looks as though I won't be on the NAGF anymore.

Postby vtxcandyred » Sat Dec 20, 2014 5:41 am

I was on it since they were "bought out" and now every time I log on and its been a while since I had done so and I forgot my password. I know I clicked on the remember me because it populated the username field. I just don't feel the need to gp there anymore. What a shame. Oh well. I can always come here when I do get on the puter.

It's a real shame what happened to the Saunders site. It was the first Goldwing site I ever belonged to, I have thousands of posts there, and met lots of friendly people as a result. Once I created this forum, I started noticing that virtually every time I made a post there, my post was silently deleted - posts that were of the same sort I had always made: attempting to help people and answer questions. I was then told, in no certain words - not by Steve, who had never been anything but courteous and friendly to me, but by several "moderators" - that I was no longer welcome. I made a couple more posts trying to protest, and they too were immediately deleted, so I just gave up. Shortly aftwards, they sold out, and I gave up visiting the site altogether - I couldn't find the content amongst the pop-up ads, auto-playing advertising videos and everything else, and I wasn't permitted to post, so I just focused on making this site the best forum I could.

A couple of other Goldwing forums are dying. GL1800riders no longer has the traffic, GLRiders isn't doing well either, F6Baggers is dead.
I visited the NAGF new site, they also got the first 'Spammer' as a member, they just stick out like a sore thumb. I have no interest in returning there. I belong to this one and a few others that have nice members. Members helping members and good information.

It really is up to the members. I can post all I like on this site, but when it comes down it it, I'm just one guy posting information. It's the friendliness and helpfulness of other members that really make this site a welcoming, friendly place to visit, and I can't take any credit for that whatsoever.

I can say this much: This site is really a labor of love for me, and after seeing forum after forum be bought up by motorcycle.com, turned into a profit-generation site, and subsequently have the life drained out of it, I would never do that here. I've just put too much time and work into making it what it is today.

You have made this a dam good site WingAdmin. I always check out this site and Trike Talk. I don't contribute much but have learned a lot from this site and enjoy reading what others have posted whether I learn anything or not.

I really appreciate this site and it's members. I feel the same as you guys about the Saunders site. It used to be the first site I would visit and contribute to, however not nearly as often any more. Quite a few of the old frequent poster are no longer contributing and their moderators consist of only one who participates on a regular basis. Not a healthy proposition. You can't even post a link to another commercial site without the thread being locked. And the list goes on.......

That "labour of love" Scott, has made you an invaluable, friendly resource to us Wing riders, and for that I am forever grateful.
You have taught us to not fear the "mechanics" of our machines, but instead to embrace them and like a child learning to walk...practice..attempt a little more each time and watch one's confidence grow. This site and it's wonderful members have provided a wealth of information. Thanks and a Merry Christmas from North of the 49th! :D

WingAdmin, as far as I'm concerned, this is the best GW forum in the world by far, and you, my friend, are the greatest resource for GW information and advice that exists, anywhere. Your word is solid gold!

I belong to many other GW forums, but this is, and will remain, my first choice.

Long live GoldwingDocs.com!!

Trike Talk is . . . . interesting. The HD folks, for all their swagger and bluster, have the thinnest skin of any members of any forum I have ever been on.

I can think of several members here that have more than enough knowledge (and are willing to share that knowledge) that no Goldwing question goes unanswered nor does any problem go unresolved for very long.

I can't think of any reason to frequent any other Goldwing related site. While I'm sure there are some reasons (customization perhaps?) that a different site would seem to be interesting for a time, I've never felt compelled to even look for another place to learn about my old bikes.

I read a lot more than I post (yeah, it's probably hard to believe LOL) and I learn a lot from those of you who KNOW what they're talking about. So as not to embarrass anyone, I won't call out the really smart guys (most of you)... You'll never know how much you've shown me, but I'm grateful for all you do.

Thanks to the Admin for making a site that has so much information available and who is one of the guys on my "must learn from" list...
I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.

Well thank you for those very kind words. That's exactly what my original intent was: to help people become comfortable enough to perform their own work, learn their bike and then perhaps help others!

I'm not anywhere near conceited enough to claim I am the greatest resource ever. I am more than willing to recognize that there are others with far more knowledge and experience than I. That said, I love learning, and when I learn something - either from others or "the hard way," I'm more than happy to help by sharing that information when I can.

Speaking of success beyond anything I could have ever imagined...within the next few days, we should be hitting 60,000 users! And from those users, as of this moment, we have a total of 137,073 posts in 21,552 separate topics. We also now have 8,338 pictures uploaded into the Member's picture gallery. That's just incredible!

I use to go to the gl1800 riders site but found it almost threatening, the folks on there had no sence of fun or anything all posts seemed to be a jab at some one so. Also to many pop ups. So I stopped dropping in on the site. This site is a blast and lots if info and fun :D Keep up the good work Mr. Admin

Yes, I like this site too, I am familiar, like talking to others that are at my level (or lack there of) of mechanical experience, and everyone helps. I have not had a bad experience with anyone here. It is a great place to be social, toss around some humor, and ask for help when needed.

I thank you all.

What the heck is NAGF?

I thought that this was the ONLY goldwing site.... well I like Naked Goldwings too.... but this is pretty much the only one I use regularly.

Scott, you do a great job here.

Year old thread resurrected... a good one at that.

The original SS,GWF had a real close brother feel until motor(sigh)cle.com bought it, to which went cold. I was able to circumvent all the Adverts. It helped but new members signed on and all KRAP broke loose. Moderators there wouldn't look/read how a problem started, it simply went 'who's your buddy/screw the others' political garbage'iola system. I've never-EVER gone that route, even IN my immediate family... to which I don't care to see anymore due to the backstabbing.

Speaking of SS,GWF sell out, what was the buyers price?
It's public knowledge.... anyone know?

As a new member I can only say I looked at several sites but this is the only one I joined. Also whenever I had a question about any Goldwing, this site always came up.
It was just a week ago yesterday that I bought my GL1500. So I had lots of questions and I got answers here so much, it became my "go to" website.
I don't know how much I can contribute, but I sure like knowing the info I need is here.

Welcome from the ILL state. I'm well by the way.

As any website grows in membership a few tarts will slip in and sour the bunch.
Hopefully you and everyone else can sift through the vomitism. (Green miles of green smiles)

I've been here a while but started contributing more this year. That OTHER Wing site is turning sour, for me it was a couple of bad peaches. Oh-Well, their loss, but that kind of garbageiola makes bad reflections towards all Goldwing websites. And that is an embarrassment.

I am signed up at several GW sites, and I used to be active on all of them.

This is the ONLY one I visit now. The tone here is consistently helpful and upbeat, and the moderation (thanks, WingAdmin!!) is truly excellent. It helps that the moderator is one of the most knowledgeable GoldWing folks on the planet, as well!
