VALUE of 98 Aspencade

Postby hap2 » Fri Jan 16, 2015 11:59 pm

Where can I find the value of a 98 Aspencade with 78,000 mi on it?

He wants $8000. I think that's about $1000 too much.

I bought my 98 SE with 60.000 mi for 6 000. Cager totaled it by pulling out into the side of me. I see it as a tad high myself, it being a Aspencade.
Ride safe, and smart. Asphalt is like #1 grit sandpaper. Dave

In the US, it would be too much. In BC, though, that's fair-to-cheap. In my area (on Vancouver Island) good, late model GL1500's go for up to $11k or even more. My '97 was $6.5K, which was a phenomenal deal. Mind you, mine's an SE, and has a little less miles on it.

I did search all over BC, and mine was the best deal anywhere at that price.

Thank you all for your feedback. I need to stick to my budget which is 7K.

And, of course, I'm in Alberta.

Thanks again

KBB lists a 1998 GL1500A with a suggested retail of $6575.00 in the US.

You may want to go to www.kbb.com and input your zip code for Canadian Dollar value.

I can't speak to the prices in Alberta - I was only referring to those in BC in my post above (although I did search as far as Alberta when I was looking for my bike, and they were essentially the same as in BC). My point was that prices on GL1500's in Canada are, in general, substantially higher than south of the border. Of course, everything is more expensive in Canada, usually around 20% higher on most things. Based on that, an $8K bike isn't out of the ballpark, it's just at the higher end of the "reasonable" range.

All, of course, would depend on condition, features, and maintenance performed to date. The latter seems more important than mileage on GL1500's - if everything's been well maintained (the most important, of course, is the timing belts - have they been done?) the mileage on the bike doesn't matter much. I suspect that any well-maintained GL1500 is capable of happily going hundreds of thousands of trouble-free miles.

And, personally, I heartily agree with you on the "SE" issue. I am eternally grateful that the one I got is an SE. I thoroughly enjoy every, single extra that the SE includes, every time I ride.

If he gets $8000, it's worth $8000.

Just not to you.
