Been Absent

Postby WingAdmin » Mon Feb 02, 2015 10:35 am

Sorry I haven't been around much - I'm working on an upgrade of the forum software. This older version has some security holes that need to be fixed by upgrading - but I've done such heavy modification and integration of the forum throughout the site, that it's taking quite a bit of work to get it done. I've been working on it for over a week now. Then there's the newsletter that needed to be written, and just in time for the newsletter to go out this weekend, my mail server packed it in. I spent 27 hours this weekend building a new mail server (which is why there were no mail notifications all weekend, and why the newsletter didn't go out until late Sunday night).

So...that hasn't left me much time to keep up on the site, as you can imagine! I'm just now catching up a bit...

It constantly amazes me. You have youtube Vids, you put out a newsletter and still manage to at least acknowlage almost every thread on this forum and I'm sure you have a day job, as well. Lots and lots of work. You do an awesome job and we are so much better for it.

OK, some of you might have noticed that the site was offline this morning for about an hour. I was doing the upgrade to the new software, now that I've finished my updates and testing. You have probably already noticed a few things looking a bit different here and there. I detailed more here: Web site update!

One of the most visible changes is in the way that images are attached to posts. I've updated the instructional post to reflect the changes: Adding pictures to your message

Hey WingAdmin, here's another,"Thank you for all you do"! I am so grateful that you spend the time you do offering this website for GoldWingers. The site and the advice given here have been worth it's weight in Gold, actually I don't think anyone could put a price on it, just invaluable! So, to you and everyone on here, thank you!

On another note, my iPad seems to show the site larger, with some graphics/words & numbers running off the page and/or getting formatted to the next line down. I have tried everything in settings on my iPad but if I set the font size to smaller, then other sites show very small. Is it possible for you to acquire an iPad and check to see if it is doing this also? Better yet, has anyone had this issue with their iPads?

Thanks again,
Alan

I'm sure that we all noticed the changes lately. And I for one am guilty of the old adage, out of sight, out of mind. But of course since site is working then all is good. But if it goes down, then we would like to know where Admin. is and what the problem is and how long before it will be working again? Which is a lot considering that I pay nothing to utilize the site that he works so hard at. To say thank you every day is not enough. The devotion he shows is amazing.

Yeah, I know about this. The emulator I've got here that is supposed to emulate what the site looks like on an iPad shows the site perfectly fine. But when I try it on an actual iPad, I see what you see - the reason is technical, but I'm aware of it and I'm working on it.
