Friday the 13th Port Dover - Feb 2015

Postby themainviking » Fri Feb 13, 2015 9:17 am

Temperature is -20C (-4F) with wind chill of -26C (-14F) in Port Dover this morning.... Anyone going to the Friday 13th outdoor part of the party? I do not imagine there will be too many motorcycles running around, but usually there are a couple. They have a shirt just for the occasion.

Think I will pass for this year. :) I'm sure that the bike could handle it, but these old bones sure wouldn't. :D Neat shirt though. Stay warm, as it is 46 degrees here in Dunnellon, Fl tonight. Thinking about a fire in the fireplace. :P
Ride safe, and smart. Asphalt is like #1 grit sandpaper. Dave

Nope,......58 degrees today, and dry for the next week, go fig 35 in the early a.m., but now is the time to roll "beige" out of the garage and see if I can get the oil changed, order a speedo cable, and start doing some warm weather planning.

Though -4 f is inviting....I cherish my woodstove, thank you, lol.

Just read in the TO Sun that the "Thong Man" rode in from St.Thomas on what looks like a Ural.
For those that don't know him "Thong Man" is an older gentleman that always rides in with just a thong on and supposedly never misses Fri 13th in Dover.Everybody that has been there has seen him at one time or another.
If I'da known it would last this long,I'da taken better care of it.

It is not the cold it is the salt on the road that kils your bik. If you do not salted the roads I would run all year. :D

Ya, isn't that the truth (regarding salt)....we do not use salt here, we use chemical on some of the major arteries and then they drop rock/sand which is not any better. Nothing like dodging projectiles when riding hence why I wait until winter season is over.

You poor Northerners, not only do you have to avoid the cold, snow, ice, cagers, and salt - I hear now that you also have to dodge rocks on the road. Think I will stick to the warmer places on Earth, even though yesterday was hot and it is still hot today (39C - about 102F). Cranking up the aircon, and settling in for the day as there is supposed to be a cool change coming later. The temp will probably drop down to a bearable 30C.

Keep on ducking!

The world is not going to finish today, as it is already tomorrow in Australia and New Zealand, and other islands of foreign nations such as Guam and Samoa.

I'm about a 3 to 4 hour backroad ride from Port Dover and yes we do use lots of salt and a brine solution on our roads.I park my bike as soon as the first snow hits the ground just for that reason and don't get it back out until the spring rains wash the crap off of the roads.
