Stewart. Just out of curiosity where did you find the answer to the meaning of GL? That subject has come up many times and so far there has been no answer as to the meaning. I know Grand Luxury is common with automobiles but ???

I went onto Bing, typed in "what does GL mean in a vehicle's description" or "what does F6B mean" and it came up with a page of answers, and I picked the one that was as close to what my question was.

There are lots of guesses as to what GL means, among which "Grande Luxe" is a popular one - but in truth, only Honda knows what it stands for, and they aren't saying.

Know its new taste and be loyal, you'll know when to change that oil.
Taste testing as the miles flow, souring as that acid grows.
And don't flirt with dirt or darkened oil, all the faster your engine will spoil.

well, I just got off the phone with the Honda motorcycle corp. in California, and believe it or not, nobody knows what the GL or the F6B acronyms stand for. they suggested I call the Honda motorcycle corp. in Japan to ask them lol. like that's gonna happen.......NOT. so its still up in the air as to what the letters actually stand for.
