Motorcycle Museum Ohhh

Postby littlebeaver » Sun Mar 15, 2015 5:29 pm

something I always wanted to see.... A real Motorcycle Museum...  So my daughters High School Basketball team went to the State finals in Salina KS, as we were riding almost into town I noticed a sign that said Motorcycle Museum OOOhhhhh  ... I stored that in my memory bank, well whats left of it anyways.... The team won their first game which was on Wed. last week and they played again on Friday and if they win that game they play on Sat. it the final game... Well, it's a 2 1/2 hr. trip so they had school Thursday and we came back home,, We all went back for the final games and stayed the weekend,,, Penny and I and Amanda my daughter, they won Fridays game and so it was Basehor High against McPherson High in the final match up at 6:15 Sat... The girls wanted to go to the mall like most women folks... Me.... well you guys know what I wanted to do... Motorcycles aaaahhhheeeee... The Museum is south of Salina about 30 minutes and then west in Marquette KS. ... a bit it of a warning though,, this is a very small town in the middle of nowhere'sville, you guys know how small towns are as you drive into a downtown area, it's like 20 mph and everything is very slow,, well,,,,, I saw the museums store front and made a quick turn into one of those angled parking spots going the other way and when I got out Mr. Policeman sheriff dude pulls up and asked me if I see those 2 yellow lines in the street   I say Yes sir,,, he said well just so you know you can't turn into a spot crossing those 2 yellow lines like that  , I said well I'll be... He was cool about it but I just got a vision of John Rambo (first blood)... He said he wasn't gonna write a ticket but be aware of that... I did say to him that everyone and their brothers gonna turn in like I did...OMG.. I just got there too... the guy in the museum told me they didn't have a cop in that town...OMG.... He said it must have been a county sheriff,, I'm thinking I need to get out of this area as soon as possible.. Oh dear ... so I took lots of photo's and got out of town all the while wondering if Mr. Policeman was gonna hassle me trying to leave town...This is why I hate small towns...If they aren't writing a ticket for going 2 miles over the speed limit they are screwing with you,,, this takes away from their business's in my opinion....I always thought they wanted people to spend money in their towns not make them afraid... I supposed he could have been a real buttocks and wrote me up,, Now I have always know the double line was for not passing on a roadway, never not crossing into a parking spot, these spot however are designed for traffic going the other way so I got his point, I just didn't think about it because I almost passed the museum by the front is so small but inside is awesome.... The Basehor Bobcats lost in the final game the went 24-1 for their season..,, finishing second in the State.... sure was a great game though... The site I posted won't show up....darn it...http://www.ksmotorcyclemuseum.org/

I'm gonna have to reduce the photo size again so it may take a minute... Or 5...

Thanks for posting the Video !! Anyone who has a passion for the OLDER bikes would be drooling. Lots of rare bikes. Lots of trophy's. My second bike was an Indian. 1976 ME 100. Although not a classic, it was still an Indian. Also, proper response to officer friendly is "Yes sir officer sir. Will be more careful next time." This is where you tip your hat and smile.
