Solar eclipse

Postby Sidcar » Fri Mar 20, 2015 5:40 am

Just been watching a solar eclipse despite the skies starting to cloud over as it began (sod's law). It was only a ninety percent eclipse from where I am but it did go darker and colder at its height. Taking photos through an arc welders mask wasn't easy and only one came out so you'll have to take my word it was more impressive than the picture shows.

You must be in the UK. The pictures I have seen from other parts of Europe have been spectacular.

The world is not going to finish today, as it is already tomorrow in Australia and New Zealand, and other islands of foreign nations such as Guam and Samoa.

We only got an 85/90percent eclipse, like a big Cheshire Cat grin in the sky, but the pictures I took of that didn't come out. To get the real deal I'd have had to fly up to the Faroe Islands.

An American moves to Lancashire!!
Now that's news, I'm guessing it's not for the cricket. Makes a change from the usual exodus in the opposite direction.

But after the World Cup for One Day matches, I imagine that the Pommes would be looking for all the help they can get. Would you like to have a small wager on the Ashes Tests?
