FURNACE BETWEEN MY LEGS

Postby brentsboats » Sat Mar 28, 2015 10:54 pm

OK KIDS ,,LOOKING FOR FACTS ,NOT FICTION .
Saw a ad on ebay were a older guy purchased a 1700 Vulcan about a month ago .He now wishes he did not ,He had been riding nothing but Goldwings for 20 something years .In his ad on ebay he is saying that the V twinn is alot hotter to ride then any Gl 1500 or 1800 . As some of you may know ,i have been searching for quite some time for a Vulcan 1500 ,, But now this has got me thinking .When i ride my Hondas now i get hot enough in the summer heat .The last thing i want is a furnace between my legs .Ok ,,tell me your tales ,iam all ears . Brent

V-Twins are warm higher up than Goldwings. When moving, the wind takes care of it, but when stopped at lights or stop signs or in heavy traffic, they can seem pretty warm.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

When Kawi made the 1700s, especially when the tourer came out, there was a lot of complaining of heat from the engine, to the point of really being uncomfortable. I heard these issues with the first 2-3 seasons of the bike. I read that they even made deflectors to move the air quickly away from the engine, but it was not real successful.

Funny that I never heard this with their 1500 or 1600 bikes. Mine was an older 1500 88, and the engine was warm, but no problems riding it at all.

I used to Have an LC Suzuki Intruder and compared to a wing theres a lot of heat coming off of a V twin motor in the summer. Living around a major city like Chicago and getting caught up in suburban traffic gives you a new appreciation for the wings water cooling. I would never go back to V twin again if I could help it.
