Top Gear!

I am not sure how many out there have heard of the BBC's tv programme, "Top Gear". However, the recent shenanigans which have led to its star presenter being sacked following his physical attack on the producer, has had more fall out now the co-presenters have decided not to renew their contracts. I tell you all this as one of the outcomes is that the aforementioned co-stars are now selling off their motorcycle collections. And for sale is a 1977 GL1000 Goldwing. It looks rather nice.

Hmm, that bike has the numbers of a '76.

It probably is a '76, it just wasn't first registered until 1977

So pristine and sorry to hear of show falling to pieces. Favorite episode was all 3 of them ride across vietnam on scooters.

Such a cool show, too. I used to watch it all the time, though I am not able to afford a lot of the cars they drive, the issue that all three were funny was a good thing.

Ugh, another show down the tubes.

It's a real shame, the three of them together had an excellent (and funny) rapport, it's long been one of my favorite shows. I was unaware that Richard and James had also chosen to leave. Is Richard selling ALL of his motorcycles?

I don't think they are selling their entire collections. It tells you more here

Oh how much I'd love to own that.... Not just because it's a goldwing, but the fact that it was owned by both Richard and James. Beautiful bike.... I wonder if James worked on the bike himself at some point? I could just seem him explaining the relationship between the cams and crank, as he changed the timing belts and arranging his spanners.

It's sad that the show as we know it has come to an end. It is one of my all time favorite shows. Jeremy took a very dry, boring gene and brought something new and earth shattering to Motoring shows. There hasn't been anything quite like it, nor will there ever be again.

It's like Sienfield, Friends, or The Big Bang Theory, where the right people, at the right time came together and made something, simply spectacular. The cars became secondary to the personalities...

Top Gear was the BBC's Concord moment.

Latest news is that the three of them are negotiating a deal to create the show outside of the BBC. That makes more sense than anything else I've heard so far: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/peopl ... 69392.html

I dig that show, and I am sure they can land something. No offense to the US Top Gear version, but I would take the BBC version any day.

The Goldwing was originally owned by James May and Richard got it from him in 2013. With James owning you know it hasn't been driven hard.

Best show on TV as far as I was concerned. Even the wife liked it and she's no car fan. These guys won't be out of work long. BBC's lose will be another's gain.

"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "
