New gold wing rider

Post by musmin7 » Mon Apr 20, 2015 3:51 pm

Hello to all just wanted to say hi as I'm new to the forum. Just purchased my first gold wing. an 01 gl1800 have been riding hd ultra classic for many years but have always wanted to ride a wing. due to a recent accident that toyaled my beloved hd I decided it's now or never not to many years left as they go by quite fast so here I am now a proud gl owner looking forward to putting as many miles on her as possible.
I welcome any suggestions on care usage and handling you can give as this is such a different monster from my hd. :)

Nothing clears the mind like being on my bike on the open road witnessing the majesty of God's creation

Welcome to the site.... How does it differ from the Harley...? I have a GL1100 and a Kawa voyager 1200,, Never even rode a 1800 before.... I rode a Harley,, I had a Kawa Nomad wannabee Harley  ...I think I like my Voyager better than the Nomad I had...1800 looks pretty fancy... :D we like them photo's so when you get it figured out we'd love to see your bike...

I also came from HD to my Goldwing, and I won't go back, although I still own my Harleys. It is hard to part company with old friends that have taken me so many miles. The Goldwing GL1800 is indeed a far different beast than any HD made, and it has handling and power superiority without equal. It is probably the finest touring motorcycle ever produced. It took me a bit of getting used to, but practice in a parking lot added a lot to my speed of upgrade. As far as highway, no extra practice is needed except for keeping hand off max throttle setting. About the only thing I could wish to bring forward from Harley to Honda is the locking sidestand. That would be great. Enjoy and ride lots.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey
