Hello Forum Resurrected Wing Rider here

Postby highlander_ca » Tue May 05, 2015 12:23 am

Hello folks, I have owned a 1982 GL1100A Aspencade since '98, she was parked in 2003 and finally resurrected this spring, after 12 years it's back on the road and running perfectly! A few minor glitches like the clock not working (I found the cause after checking the forums here). I am excited to get her back on the road after a major rebuild, new suspension, brakes, carb rebuild, belts and tires. I have learned more in the last week reading these forums than all the years I have owned it.
My wife and I are retiring to her home town in Louisiana this summer and I am hopeful we will get to know fellow wing owners and enjoy many miles/years of cruising across the south. This site is awesome!

Thank-you very much WingAdmin, it is nice to be noticed! I will try to work through my tech challenges and post a pic of the old girl..... looks a whole bunch like yours, it is the same colours.. just not as shiny, sat under a tree for 6 years.

I'm in the same boat as you. Starting back riding after an extended absence. At 64 I'm getting a little excited about riding again. Lost some interest after my two riding buddies sold their bikes. My best riding buddy died last year at 68 so I'm dedicating my new rides to his memory. Plan is to scatter some of his ashes on the Blue Ridge Parkway this fall.
Hope you enjoy your tours of the South. The humidity can be a little unpleasant but the season is long.

"virgilmobile"]I'll say WELCOME back to Louisiana.
Thanks virgilmobile ! My wife is dying to get back home to Hickory Grove area where she grew up and become a full-time Nana to our 2 Granddaughters in Natchitoches. We will be on the road dodging gators n armadillos or on the Bayou chasing bass around the rest of the time. Denham Springs isn't too far off, I see a ride coming up!

Thanks wlkjr ! That is beautiful country, we came south through there from WV a few years ago but would love to do a whiskey tour on the bike! I am especially hopeful to plan a ride to Key West in the next couple of years, we need to get the retired thing sorted out first.

Let me know when you have a chance to ride...Me and mine would love to have a cup of coffee at the Waffle house in Hammond.
