Using an iPhone with intercom.

Postby nedntrish » Tue May 05, 2015 9:05 pm

Looking for a simple and inexpensive way to hook up my iPhone to my com system. I do not have a head set yet because I'm still trying to figure out what to get.

What I want to do is enjoy my ride but yet be able to take/make a call, use my gps, and have Siri send and read text messages.

Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks for your help.

I'm interested in the same thing, mostly just for the music since my old radio is kaput.

I guess I forgot to mention that I want to listen to the radio until the phone rings.

It's never that important when mine rings. :D It's getting more difficult to remember the days before cell phones and being unavailable to everyone's whims.

Something came up the other day and I couldn't be reached while I was riding. The situation could've been lessoned if I knew the phone was ringing.

You're looking for a Kennedy Cellset. Not cheap, but I'm pretty sure it will do what you're looking for.

I use an FM transmitter to hold, charge and play music through the bikes stereo from my Iphone. When there is a call the phone cuts the music off automatically, thus drawing your attention to it. At this point you could pull over and use the phone or if you have it bluetoothed to another device you could answer it on the fly.
I use the Scala Rider bluetooth com-system for bike to bike communication as well as the bikes stock system. The scala system allow me at the touch of one button to use Siri on my Iphone to make and recieve both calls and text messages. 8-)

You might want to check out the products offered by J&M Audio. Sierra Electronics is also a retailer for them as well as other brands.

Other brands to consider are Edsets, Air Rider, and Sena. I am not sure if Edsets has their bluetooth system for sale yet but it is coming online soon.

Is there a way to just plug the phone/MP3 into the intercom system?

Scala Rider set.
I have an older Q2 version, works great with iPhone, and it intercoms.
You each get to connect to your own phone so, custom music.
you intercom to each other, no phone necessary.
Nice set up.
