Beautiful day

Postby WingAdmin » Fri May 08, 2015 9:45 am

Yesterday was just about the most perfect (weather wise) day for riding. Sunny, warm, not too hot, not too windy, just gorgeous out. My beautiful bride and I took a ride to nowhere in particular, and managed to meander around a hundred miles or so just in our general area.

We stopped at a stoplight, and she leaned forward to take our picture. I should have taken my sunglasses off. Oh well. :)

First, I'm still surprised that she is on the back instead of riding her own.
Second, I'm waiting to see the selfies of you on the back of hers. :D

Very nice, its that time of the year. i cant wait to head out. I'm fortunate to have the summer off from work and am planning my very first "long distance" trip, very anxious but yet excited. Only setback is 2 weeks ago i tore my gastrocnemius (calf) and the doc says about 2 full months recovery. I guess it could be worse. Enjoy the weather, here in Oklahoma we are dodging tornadoes this time of the year :x

She wanted to ride with me! :)

I've never ridden on the back of hers...in fact, come to think of it, the last time I rode on the back of a bike was when I was a kid.

I understand. My wife calls me a "control enthusiast" (control freak), but I don't even like riding in a car with most people.
The only time in 45 years (legal driving age) that I've ridden on the back of someone's bike was probably 10 years ago when mine broke down on a trip.
It was a Harley by the way.

I suspect most of us fall into the "control enthusiast" category. I think the last time for me was on the back of a Virago for a 100 mile ride to a dealership to pick up my Yamaha Venture for service. Which means it was in the early 1990's.

Yes yesterday was a beautiful day for riding and I am glad someone enjoyed it. Way to go Wing Admin!

My wife has been riding her own bike since about 1990 and will not take me as a passenger anywhere. She does not even like to drive a car with me as a passenger unless I am asleep.

I buy them in quantity, and have quite a few stashed in my bike, so when a pair is hacked up a bit, I just toss them and get out another. Easy to do when they only cost $4. :)

I can't wait to get my new bike, but in the meantime I'm loving the intimacy of riding with my hubby. Besides, then I get to just lean back and relax, listen to/and or sing along with the radio, chat with him about life or about what we're seeing on our ride, enjoy the sunshine and the breeze. :D

And...Try hard not to get so comfy and mesmerized by the vibration of the motor and winding of the roads that I fall asleep. I've come too close so many times!!! Because I could probably slip right off the back without him even noticing I'm gone! Ha ha ha

My wife has fallen asleep on the back of my bike many times! A couple of years ago, while on a group ride, she fell asleep & missed the rush-hour ride through downtown Seattle entirely (lucky her!).

Yes, Seattle is one place where missing the rush-hour is a good thing, nearly as bad as Atlanta. It was one of the few places where the GPS could not get is bearings, and we were "just going with the flow" until it managed to catch up." A bit nerve racking, as my wife was driving (a car), so I just said go with the traffic, and then we will work out where we are. It took about 30 mins after we got a car in Frankfurt, Germany, for it to find its location; and in Prague, Czech Republic, it kept loosing the signal - perhaps the further east you go, the less coverage from 'friendly' satellites. Again, we just went with the flow and eventually we found our way out of the high rise blocking the signals, and back to the accommodation.

Beautiful day? Well good for you, glad you had a good one.

Some wait for perfect conditions or weather to ride, go out, or do anything. I don't understand that position, it sure excludes a lot of living and adventure. Besides the crummy days make you appreciate and cherish the beautiful ones, they become just that much more special.
