It's back running

Postby wlkjr » Sat May 09, 2015 3:33 pm

Got my Wing back yesterday and it's finally running like a watch after sitting in the garage covered up for the last 7 years.
Had the carbs done, clutch master cylinder rebuilt, rear brake master cylinder rebuilt and pads, rear caliper rebuilt, new boot covers for the rear shocks, new seat cover, new plugs, rear end oil changed and two new tires. Next week I'll finish cleaning the chrome, change the oil and filter, and change out the antifreeze.
I've decided to live with the slight crazing of the paint and make it a survivor. The clear coat is sound but the sun has taken it's toll, especially on the right side. We both have put on some years and undergone some minor maintenance, so we'll just age together.
Early morning ride felt great today but I do miss my riding buddies. So I'm back in the saddle again. Will post some pics later. Would have posted sooner but been busy getting the bugs off my teeth.

Sounds like you are a happy chappy, now! Keep brushing the teeth, eventually the bugs will come off. But make sure you keep the supply of bugs guessing where you will be next :D :D

The world is not going to finish today, as it is already tomorrow in Australia and New Zealand, and other islands of foreign nations such as Guam and Samoa.

Wow 7 years is a lot of down time for a bike and out of the saddle for you. Take it easy until the rusty shakes off and the sharp skills return. Congrats

Seven years is a long time at my age. But it doesn't seem like I'm too rusty. Did about a hundred mile round trip to the gun range this afternoon for an indoor match. It was brutally hot but the bike ran perfectly. Getting too hot for comfort now. The cool of the fall is my favorite time to ride. One of my neighbors is a member of a small group of retirees that rides every Wednesday. I may join them for their small adventures.
