Helmet rebuild

Post by wlkjr » Tue May 12, 2015 8:54 pm

The insides of my favorite Bell helmet is badly deteriorated, not the white foam but the black that fits to the head. Has anyone redone the inside or know of a place that does? My other helmet is fine.

Please be aware that you should replace your helmet every 5 years. While there may be no visible problems the foam breaks down over time and will not offer the protection your brain needs in an accident. As for fixing the cloth liner you may be able to get a new one from the manufacturer otherwise how good is your sewing? 8-)

Unlike old bikes, and older riders, helmets should not be recycled. Once they are worn out, they become trophies so that you can remember all the good times you had with that helmet. If the lining is coming away, that might be the first/last clue that the helmet is old and needs replacing.

The world is not going to finish today, as it is already tomorrow in Australia and New Zealand, and other islands of foreign nations such as Guam and Samoa.
