Wing update

Postby curt-51 » Thu Jul 01, 2010 5:48 am

Hello Everyone,

I am thinking about updating from my 81 1100 to a 1200 or 1500. Are there certain years I should look for as far as options or dependability?

Thanks to all!!

That's a pretty broad question, so a pretty broad answer! :)

This is my opinion, of course...but for a 1200, I would look for a good, non-fuel injected (LTD) model that has had good maintenance. Fuel-injected 1200's are great, but parts (should you need them) are rare and expensive $$$$, as they were only made for one year. I'd probably go for a 1985 or later, as 1985 is when they larger stators were used, and stators are a big problem on 1200's.

For a 1500, personally, I would look for a 1997 or later model. The 1997 model year had quite a few engine, clutch, transmission and final drive changes to make them stronger and more reliable.
