just my opinion but, function over form...
make sure they will fit over your gear, otherwise it would be redundant to protect yourself from the rain and not the rode.
also breathable, if you get wetter wearing it (perspiration) than not, its no good either.
I'm not so much concerned with what it looks like as long as it works, besides, probably nobody out in the rain looking at you
anyway...
Too many toys not enough time... :)

I think this topic has been covered before and a good search should turn up some suggestions. There are a number of reputable companies that made good rain gear: Tourmaster, First Gear, Frog Toggs, DryRider, Olympia, and I am sure there are others I can't think of.

Price is a problem in this area, if you want something with Gore-Tex so it will breath and you will not get all sweaty wet you will pay more.

Whenever possible I prefer to incorporate rain gear into my riding gear. As an example for a jacket I wear a waterproof First Gear Kilimanjaro jacket, not cheap, but serves many functions for all but the heat of the summer riding. I also wear their waterproof HT overpants. Another great solution is the Roadcrafter suit, or the Darien outfit from Aerostitch.

Thanks for the advice. Yes there is a lot of topics out there in the search but most are old and I am looking for stuff people actually use and like. I don't care how it looks on me either as long as it's visible and it keeps me dry without me sweating to death in it. Thanks for all the replies now time to do some research and hopefully make a choice. Thanks again Ed

Well I went with the FroggToggs mainly because they were the only thing available at the local store. They seemed to do just fine. I hit some heavy rain on the way home and it rained most of the way home. It kept me dry. The only thing that didn't work all that well was the strap on the end of the pants that go on your foot to keep the pants down. They seemed to come un snapped way to easily. All and all I was pretty pleased with the product.
