The only thing good about LA was the Busch brewery at that time. 60s. Don't think I lost anything by leaving Calif as soon as I could. They probably still think that I owe them taxes. Didn't see what people think is so great about that place either then and still can't see what people think of it now. Why would those people vote in the 1d10ts they do  .

Nice day here. Should have been riding but too many chores to get caught up on. I finished planting my garden. Peppers (4 different types) and okra planting time now with the soil warming up. Already eating green onions, radishes, lettuce, snow peas and strawberries. Yum! Tomatoes and cucumbers planted last week.

Gave the bike an oil change with filter. Even gave it a very quick clean and used some carnauba wax - turned out nice.
Polished the windscreen again - definitely need a new one.

Swapped to Belray 10-40 mineral oil.

Did our usual Sunday ride, but today was Wilmot Flea Markets 2017 opening day and spent the morning there.
Quite a few PROPER vendors, meaning non-mex-krap like that '7 Mile' place. One thing about opening day, vendors enjoy fresh conversation. Apparently I enjoyed it also for someONE walked on ahead... way-WAY ahead..(grrr).
Good or bad I will have a good time while riding. More miles of smiles, had I today.

One very odd, but more of a SAD thing I seen today. For our lunch, we stopped at Culver's and I parked next to a GL1800 Trike. The owner & mate while mounting and setting up ALL their electronics gear, I couldn't help but notice them looking at my Wing, pointing & chuckling. EYE Esplane...
They must of had a lot of spare time over this winter, full "Spit Shine" finish. My Wing,... well let me put it this way, I ride 24/365. So it has it's dirty places, rough edges, etc.. but that's all skin deep, my concern is it's maintenance. After all, I do have 210,000+ on a 1991 Interstate, I would surmise theirs is just barely into 5 digits. I noticed the guy had a bewildered look as to why his reverse wasn't working. I seen he went through the 'put it in reverse' motions 3 times. Once he got it going he nearly ran over the curb.
WHOA-kay...
What gets me is, we're all in this Wing thing together and I see and get this Wing SNOBBISH attitude. So as I rode off from lunch, I began to wonder. Who is worse, SNOB Wing owners or (expletive) HD owners? I'll open a new thread and ask, you all post.

Boy am I jet lagged.
I enjoyed my week in NY but that was enough. I wouldn't want to live there but I'd visit again which is more than I can say about LA, once was enough. I did San Fran and the Big Sur on the way to LA, I'd do those again happily.

VA shorted me on my pain meds and when I complained, I was automatically misusing my drugs. So off to the pain clinic. Boy, what an aptly named place. Been chair bound since. 50 years of back pain so take away my pain meds. You want idiots, go there! Haven't ridden since March 10, and family won't let me drive.

just out of curiosity, did they suggest any other type of treatment like back surgery other than just pain management?

Not knowing exactly what your back issue involves I can offer this suggestion: When I was suffering back pain I went to a local hospital pain management group. The doctor did what is commonly called a walking epidural injection. The pain was gone the next day. I went back for a second injection a couple weeks later. The injections are good for up to a year. My issue was resolved.

I know nothing about epidural injections.
What you got, was that a nerve blocker?

Yeah, I guess that's the same thing. Sorry, my wife is a nurse and I've started talking like her. The pain guy located the source of the pain and blocked it.

I wonder if it'll work on my wife, she's a pain too often also.

A great day outside and here I am working inside. Oh well, it pays the bills. I've got a set of Roadsmith Comfort Controls on the way, can't wait to try them out.

Well not exactly today, but I did have a nice ride to Toronto and back last weekend, in some great, sunny weather.

Like the helmet. Is the Aria exspensive in the US? To replace my Aria is going to cost me about £450.
Plenty of Hi-Vis as well you can't be too careful these days.
One thing I did notice in NY your roads are as bad as ours.

I was going to suggest you try Helmets Direct but when I looked for their website there is nothing there, guess it's gone to the wall. My Arai is ten years old so I suppose it's due for renewal. The trouble is, it takes me five years to get used to a new helmet.

About $650 from Revzilla (which was the cheapest I found), which is around £500. So pretty close.

NY roads aren't great. It varies from state to state. By far the worst I've seen in a while are Michigan, particularly in and around Detroit, where you are dodging potholes on the highways (motorways) that could throw you from your bike.

I led the group ride yesterday out to Shoshone Falls, ID (on the Snake River near Twin Falls ID). These falls are higher than Niagra, but they typically don't have nearly as much water flowing. This year because of an exceptionally high snow pack the flow is the highest that it's been in 10 years.

In all it was 280 miles on some great back roads. We had 10 bikes show up with three of them being Goldwings: my 2012, a 2014, and a 1994 Aspencade. This was the first ride that I've been on where I wasn't the only 'Wing rider.

A local 50's themed restaurant, The Chatterbox, hosts Bike Night every Thursday evening during the summer. This past Thursday was the first really nice one we've had, so I rode to bike night. Turnout was light as I expected since it's still early in the season. There were about 20 of us that showed up.
(On a warm summer evening, I've seen more than 200 bikes show up there!!)
But for only 20 bikes, there was a good variety. I saw a couple of Harleys, a FJR Yamaha, a Royal Enfield, a mangy two stroke dirt bike of some sort, a Triumph....and two Goldwings.
Oh yeah...some sort of restored moped on a trailer. LOL!!
Not bad for the first Bike Night.

Went and picked up my Valkyrie yesterday - happy as a pig in **** - bike runs very well and did 325 km's bringing it home. Took a few minutes to get used to - and then it was all fun.

Feels a bit more ponderous compared to the GL1500 - I suppose because I am not used to it yet. Overall very impressed and its solid feel on the road - it handles cross winds better than the Goldwing - and it sits a lot better on the road. Will be giving it a good service on Tuesday then off for another 3 days and giving it a longer run.

Will post a link to the photos and a short video a bit later.

I have not yet put a lot of miles on my Wing, and this is the last thing holding me back:

This is the patch it had in contact with the ground while sitting for years before I bought her and took her away from that lonely life.
So I figured while I was waiting, I'd put a new stator and regulator/rectifier on my Suzuki.

Started the day off with an hour ride in the sunshine. Grabbed my 11 year old boy and took him on a ride through town on the ol' Suzuki that I just finished tooling on and then saw the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 movie in 3D. Nearly 3 hrs later, it's raining... so much for riding up the canyon today. Dropped him off and spent the next hour enjoying the smell of fresh rain on the prairie at 65mph.
