Hey Guys, I just wanted to introduce myself and to say thanks for all of the great advice and tech info here. I've been lurking behind the scenes searching through all of the archives getting my newly acquired '77 GL up to riding standards. She was a backfiring, coughing, "keep her above 3000 rpms", mess. I was losing hope! I really have to thank you guys.

This is my first street bike at 41. (I've ridden dirt bikes over the years) She needs a lot more TLC, like the rear caliper started leaking yesterday. After a Randakk's carb kit, off idle/washer mods, and syncing the carbs, Valve adjustment, etc. she runs around flawless at 1800 rpm and pulls from there. Got a Corbin seat, lower handle bars, new ignition switch, etc., started buffing parts, and hope to replace the cherry bombs with slip-ons, and repaint this winter. Timing belts and fork seals are next. It came with ALL the fairings, bags, and original exhaust for $800.

Everyone I know has expensive Harleys, and I'm not cheap by any means but I sure am falling in love with this bike!
Thanks again,
Jim

Welcome to the site. Yes, you have done that GW well. Keep smiling, and let the miles roll by.
