i've heard a lot about sturgis and thought about riding my bike to there, but after seeing that vid, i don't think so lol. a little too crowded for my liking. i wonder if bike week in Daytona is the same way.

The best time to sturgis (if you do not want to become one of the masses) is go a week before and enjoy the beautiful sites, mt Rushmore, crazy house monument, deadwood, needles highway, spearfish canyon, Devils tower, the bad lands. Watch and feel the increase of the bike week excitement. Then get out of town before the food, drink and lodgings prices go thru the roof. :D :D

it must be nice there before it becomes a sea of humanity and bikes. if my bike was truly ready to do a ride like that i would do it, but for now, i'll settle for getting down to the Florida keys again this year. maybe in another year or 2 when i get a newer larger bike, IE: 1200-1500 and i still have my health i'll do the Sturgis thing.

It is certainly an experience you should do at least once. There are plenty of good well maintained camp sites in the area and many have onsite home cooked meals. For bike week it self you should make your arrangements for the lodging at least 9 months ahead. :D :D

OMG, :o 9 months ahead?. i cant plan that far in advance. im more of the "day-by-day" kind of person actually. unless i know i have to be somewhere, i try not to plan for anything because every time i do, something happens and i cant do it, case in point, all these bike problems popping up recently interfering with my Florida trip plans. I've put my trip on hold since June, and hopefully, (knock on wooden head) i'll be able to do it next month.

and with this posting, im going to shut down for the night........niters everyone.

Most regular Sturgis goers have standing reservations. They just confirm them before they leave each year.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey
