New here, but not to riding

Post by deanjenn » Fri Aug 07, 2015 7:45 am

Hi all, my wife and I bought a '97 Goldwing a couple months ago. It only has 52,000 miles on it. I'm hoping to learn a few things about it, we also have a '06 Road Star. I've been riding for close to 50 years off and on myself.

Welcome Dean, you will find almost anything you want to know about your new wing on this site. If you cannot find the answers to your questions in the how to do articles or other information threads, just ask there are lots of knowledgeable and friendly persons here that will help guide you thru your questions.
One of the first questions that is asked about your new (to you) wing.
Did the po give any maintaince records? Has the timing belts been changed? Not because of miles it is now a matter of age of the belts. When was the last time it was ridden? We need more information in order to get you on the road. :D :D

No, I didn't get any maintenance records with our new ride. I guess that's something I'll have to look into.

Thanks

It would probably save you a lot of time making sure your wing is physically fit to run. :D :D

Welcome aboard. Definitely change the timing belts before you ride the bike. There is a detailed procedure here that will show you how to do it.

Welcome, DeanJenn, from the Deep Deep South, where we are trying to shake off our winter.

I've been riding for close to 50 years off and on myself.

I hope that has been mainly "ON" 8-)
