HELP WITH MY 1985 HONDA GOLDWING LIMITED EDITION

Postby SILVEREAGLE355 » Fri Aug 14, 2015 1:44 am

I'm a Disabled American Veteran, i own a 1985 goldwing limited edition, that the radio was taken out wires are different, it was also converted to alternator as opposed to stator, mirrors are glued on, it has a few things wrong, which no one can find, the air compressor doesn't work.
I am pressed for money and i need to get on the road, i need to find someone that can help me and i will help in the repair doing the dirty work under instruction with the proper tools.
I am asking someone to please help me, specially if you have some of the parts that i may need in spare.
Someone told me that the battery i need for it is a special one and it costs no less than $230.00.
I have limited income so if someone can help me, i would appreciate it.
will let you know that this request is embarrassing to me.
HELP :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

GL1200 Aspencade
http://www.westernhonda.com/fiche_secti ... veh=132499

GL1200 LTD
http://www.westernhonda.com/fiche_secti ... veh=132502

Your LTD takes the same battery as an Aspencade 1200, a gl1100 or a GL150O. (See above fiche links for LTD and Aspencade batteries, line 1.)

Get an AGM Battery to protect from boil over of the acid of a regular lead acid battery, especially with the car alternator conversion.
Westco is a good one. And it's only $120. Not $280. Somebody is blowing smoke in your face about needing a special battery. Hoowy!

I agree - with the alternator conversion, you should have an AGM battery, that will solve a lot of your battery problems.

hey silver, im leaving here, (Tennessee) on the 4th of next month and i'll be down there mid day on the 5th. send me a pvt message with your phone number so i have it with me, and i'll call you once i get to your area. i found an O'Reilly's auto parts store that's right in your neighborhood that we can ride to and get your battery.

with my fund raising efforts so far, between me, my wife and a friend of mine ive managed to get $75.00 and im still tying to get more. im gonna pay for the battery up here and have my local store call your local store and have the battery ready so they will have it for when i get down there.

if any of you other people, especially you veterans care to chip in, you can send me a pvt message and i will send you a Paypal invoice and label it as a "donation to a worthy cause". my goal is $150.00 and so far i have $75.00 and all i need is another $75.00 that will pay for the battery and the tax. if anyone has any doubts about this, i will take photos of me and silvereagle at the parts store picking up his new motorcycle battery along with the receipt for it and one of the new battery installed on his motorcycle. im doing this out of the goodness of my heart to help a fellow disabled veteran.

stuart.

Sorry, I forgot to send it in the prior message, it is (407)731-3637 also I need to tell you the VA Telecare called 911 this morning because of heart attack symptoms and I'm going to have an emergency open heart surgery replacement of aortic valve with double bypass. I hope I'm out of the hospital by then.
thank you and many Blessings for you and your family.

good morning everyone:

well, i received one donation offer this morning towards helping me to get SIVLEREAGLE355 his new battery for his motorcycle, and while he is going to be hospitalized having heart surgery, im still going ahead with this. so far i have $115.00 and I only need $35.00 more. anyone else care to make a donation? come on people, only 35 bucks more, you can donate anything from a dollar up to what ever you can afford. send me your email address and your donation amount to me in a pvt message and i will send you a Paypal funds request with "donation to a worthy cause" as the title, and GOD will bless you for it eventually, not to mention you'll know you've helped someone that really needs it. when my goal of $150.00 is reached, (to pay for the battery and tax) i will post it here and return all funds collected to anyone that donated over and above it.

here is your chance to help a disabled american veteran. this doesn't happen very often, but it should. i personally donated the first $50 dollars towards this project. i know what its like being a veteran as i also am a Vietnam era US NAVY veteran.

GOD bless you, and GOD bless these UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

stuart, a.k.a. roadwanderer2.

that's a nice battery at a decent price, but if you look at the description of it, it only has 340 CCA's, that's cold cranking amps which will NOT be enough for a 1200 goldwing bike with an external alternator. the one im going to get for him is the exact same one i have on my bike and it is an AGM battery. it has 400 CCA's which is a very good battery, and it comes as a "plug-n-play. no need to charge it up before installing it. the cost of it is $134.99+tax, which is far less than any other battery with that many CCA's ive seen and priced and its a good battery. ive had mine on my bike for over a year and a half and it hasn't left me stranded plus i keep it on a tender every time i park it in my garage. so yes, i still need a few more $$$$$. i currently have $115.00 care to contribute a few dollars?, 5 or 10?. hey, im not asking for the world, just enough to get this battery for SILVEREAGLE who is a disabled American Veteran.

go to any auto parts or online bike warehouse and price a motorcycle battery with 400 CCA especially one that's an AGM. they aren't cheap.

below is a link to the battery i have on my bike and the same one that i will be getting for SILVEREAGLE's bike once i get down to his home. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detai ... +batteries read the product details of the battery. its already been ordered and will be there for me to pick up when i get there as i am confident with the generosity of others on this site i will get enough donations to pay for it. i haven't asked for anything other than donations for this battery. i am deviating 150 miles, 2 1/2 hours of riding time and my fuel plus what ever time i spend working on his motorcycle to do this for him. other than the donations for the battery, all other costs are coming out of my own pocket.

ok ladies and gentlemen, my goal of $150.00 has been reached thanks to few of our Goldwingdocs members, myself, my wife and my friends here at home. my local friends are also continuing to raise some funds so i can purchase 2 new fairing mirrors for SILVEREAGLE's bike. from what he told me on the phone today, the PO broke the mirrors off and glued them back onto the little adjusting balls that are under the housings, and one broke off again the other day. i have a motorcycle salvage yard and a regular junk yard near me that just got an 84 or 85 GL1200 aspencade in their yard, and tomorrow im going over to it and see if the mirrors are salvageable and find out what the cost for them will be.

i want to thank you guys for helping me with this "mini fund raising" you all will be blessed. you know the saying, what goes around, comes around. thank you guys so much. this means a lot to me to be able to do this for someone in need, and im sure SILVEREAGLE will also thank you once he's back home from his heart surgery he is scheduled for tomorrow morning.

i'll post more about his progress when i call the hospital tomorrow and find out.

regards to you all,

stuart, a.k.a. roadwanderer2.

Both of my brothers have been through the triple bypass process, and I do not think he will be riding before the ribs re-unite, which could be at least 6-8 weeks, perhaps longer for a bike. Hope everything comes up smiles.
