Vintage Bike Show and me

Postby deanbw » Wed Aug 26, 2015 5:08 pm

My friend wanted to go to the vintage bike show last weekend at the Lemay Museum in Tacoma Wa. I said sure it beats anything I should be doing, I thought, if we are going to the show, why not enter? we won't win anything because we actually ride our bikes but at least we get good parking.
The show was what you would expect, some bikes that were riders (the ones we liked best) and a ton of trailer queens owned by guys who never touched a wrench in their lives, drop it off at the builder pick it up shiny. That's all well and good but kind of misses the point of owning bikes in my opinion.
It was nice talking to the guys who rode and built their own bikes, sharing stories of projects past. The day was pretty good, I had a lot of interest in Aspy, and heard many stories of trips taken "on a bike just like that"

I recently went to a bike show at kempton park uk. There were at least 1500 motorcycles there. Mine was the only gl1100 there apart from 1 gl1000 trike .very strange . Lots of people asking how it's Still going .but there were original Norton commandos , ajs, bsa, even a black shadow much older than my machine and in better condition
.
