Yet some more helmet questions

Postby Tepcro » Sun Sep 06, 2015 6:53 am

I am wondering if anyone has a particular wifi/bluetooth intercom that will work with my IPhone, the Bike Stereo??
I want one that is wireless, I have some wired ones that go in a helmet now and while they are ok, I would prefer wireless.
When my wife is not riding behind me on the wing, she is usually beside or behind me on her own bike and having wireless head sets would help us communicate.
I DONT like the ear bud idea....
I would even be open to buying a new pair of helmets if necessary....
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Sena makes a great line of headsets that will do what you are asking.
Most likely without requiring new helmets.

I was looking at that helmet.
Do you talk with another on intercom or only use it for the phone call feature?
Do you use it for music? is the tone ok?
The reviews said there was a lot of wind noise.... did you find it to be ok?

Thanks for answering my many ?????

I cannot communicate with a passenger except via phone call. I can talk on the phone, listen to music (Pandora) and listen to MapQuest or google maps via my phone. Very clear sound and no wind noise.

The bluetooth unit in this helmet is suppose to be able to intercom with another (and only) Bilt unit up to 500m. Does your passenger pick up their phone and call you or are they using their helmet to do it?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that the passenger does not have a Bilt Bluetooth helmet. But you are right, a Bilt helmet should be able to communicate with another Bilt Bluetooth helmet.

Interesting that it would only be able to communicate with another Bilt helmet.

Thanks for the response
I am looking at adding a Sena 20S to our present helmets or maybe getting a couple new modular helmets
The Sena can communicate with other Bluetooth so I might just stay with that idea
Still sounds like your helmet does all you are needing it to do.
Thanks again

The girlfriend and I both have the bilt modular helmets and both of us have our own bikes. We have been using them for the last 2 years. I do notice a little wind noise and people who I've talked to over the Bluetooth connection on my phone have said they everything clear and no background noise. The biggest issue we have is static. The farther away we are from each other the louder it is. 500 meters away sounds about right if not more and if in sight line. The more vehicles between us the shorted the distance. He son sometimes rides on back of my wing and she switches back and forth between. We haven't really taken much time to see if we can set up all 3 helmets together.

Sena is a good option. Especially the 20s. Its more expensive than the SMH10's but can do more. Most newer helmets have pockets for headset speakers depending on the pricepoint. Sena is nice. You can listen to bluetooth music, use your phone (even though most will pull off the road for phone calls) and use a gps app like waze or googlemaps. And its possible to set your bike up for bluetooth as well. Eventually hopefully Honda will release an updated with that has bluetooth integrated.
