Need to vent

Postby Uncle Fester » Wed Sep 09, 2015 6:57 pm

Back at the begining of the summer we purchased a 2003 Crown Vic P.I. Package car, ran good, did not smoke, ect ect. . . . and we needed four wheels as our grand daughter was coming for the summer, and she is too young to ride on the bike, plus our van was down with trans issues.

Fast forward to last month, CVPI is now smoking like crazy, is using a quart of oil every tank of gas, needs tires and is not needed by us any more as I fixed the vans trans. . . So we sold the CVPI to a friend, CHEAP to help him out.

Today I took the van to get the wife from work, stopped in to Taco Bell for a snack, and van was stuck in Drive ! Cound not get it in Nuetral, Park, Reverse, nada but Drive or the lower gears, and of course I had nosed in to my parking spot ! Grrrr

The van is a beater 1991 Dodge van, not worth $500-$750, so not worth fixing. This leaves me and the wife RIDING the 'Wing all winter this year here in Oklahoma City. God I hope it is a mild winter, or atleast a dry one. We can deal with cold, but snow and ice, thats another story.

Any way, thats enough venting for now. . . . Going out to start removing our personal gear, stereo, custom cabinets, ect from the van, then to the scrapper it goes. . . .

Are you sure it's not just a problem with the shifter? Or something blocking it from moving the gear lever on the trans?

Dam* Fester. When it rains it pours.......Out of curiosity, when you say you fixed the xmission, what did you have to do to it?

Replaced a few of the bushings / connectors along the shift linkage. . . Worked fine after that, for a bit.
I am at the point of if I could fix it for $0.25 and 15 mins work, I would still pass. I paid $1000.00 for the van three years ago, and have put 100,000 miles on it. . . It gave me my monies worth, so time to let it go. I just wish it let ME decide when to get rid of it ! LOL :D

I might be able to help you out getting a replacement.
I buy/sell cars wholesale on the side and would be willing to work with you to get something at my cost.
There are several auctions here in Dallas each week with probably 4000 cars available.
There is also one auction a week outside of Tulsa (Sapulpa) with around 100.
If you want to look into this, PM me and we can talk offline.

At this time of the year, it should be a nice ride over to TX. I hope it works out.
