Custom pinstripes

Postby spiralout » Tue Oct 20, 2015 4:28 pm

I bought my '96 SE from the 2nd owner who put less than 4k miles in 4 years then sold it to me so I'm guessing the original owner had the custom pinstriping done. Here's a shot of the front fender

I've always been curious as to who "George!" was so I started searching last night and found it. It was George Williams in Tennessee at The Visual Edge He's got some really cool artwork on the galleries there if you browse through and uses that same sig on most of his pieces. I Googled (never Bing!, Stuart =P) to see if they had a Facebook page and found his obituary. He passed away in March of this year at age 67. He'll live on though his artwork and I'm glad I own a piece of it.

It's in pieces under the carport for repairs at the moment but there's a pic over here http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=23600#p130465. I'll take some more when I'm finished and actually wash and polish it

I found some before pics on this PC of when I found and rescued it from the lean-to on PO's house and got it on the trailer. Three years of filth and mildewed leather

Good looking stripes. I like custom striping graphics. Here are a couple of pics if my 1500. These were done by a guy who calls himself "Chuckie" out of Colorado Springs. Pardon the dust.

When I bought my latest, it was already done, probably by the first PO that put all the chrome on it.
On the trunk there were the initials "tj". I searched and found out that it was done by TJ and the Boss.
They had a write-up in a 2001 WingWorld here.
They used to be at a lot of rallies, but haven't heard anything about them in a while.

Like Tom (dingdong), please pardon the dust.

Although I'm not familair with "Chuckie", I knew both George Williams and TJ well. We had a Halloween Party on the Thursday night of the MS Rally weekend in 1989 in Biloxi and everyone cracked up when George came dressed in a diaper, paper crown, a small table cloth accross his shoulder and leather sandals. He was representing Father Time as the 1990 version. Nice , comical guy, lotsa fun and a helluva pinhead. I was the Asst. District Director in the early 90's and also served as the Vendor Coordinator in those years for the Mississippi District GWRRA and thats where I met the Johnson's, better known as TJ and the Boss. Jane was the Boss, naturally, and they were lovely people to be around, anywhere, any time. They never missed any of our Rallies up until 2012, I believe, when TJ bacame seriously ill and had to retire from the circuit. Losing these two pinstripers left a real dent in the world, not to mention the various Rallies they attended.

God Speed George...and prayers up for TJ and Jane.
