I didn't have to make any modifications to install an Austone tire on my 93 GL1500A. I did have to deflate the tire to gain adequate clearance to install the wheel on the final drive. I run 3oz balance beads and 48 psi. Getting ready to install one on my 2000 GL1500SE this winter.

Thank you Thomba for the info. How does the tire work out for you?

I've got about 12,000 miles on it and the tread still looks new. Great handling in the twisties and the rain. I really like it. That's why I'm going to install one on my SE as well. Lots of others on this site are running car tires - Austone and other brands. Can do a search and review.

My cousin is mounting one on his Valkrie. I will be in the market for a rear tire in a couple months. Thanks again for the info.

Vanna has 4 letters for you....
N O N E

Nearing my Austones 75K mark. No issues at all, not even a bead to rim leak.

Oh OK, one mod. But many said it' wasn't needed on there bikes.
Might have to move the inner fender a little. Some use a heat gun to re-meld it's shape.
