I purchased a set of LED bulbs for the top stop lights and when i tried to install them the bulg will not fit inside the metal light frame. do i need to file the opening abit to get them to fit or does someone have a secret to share on the conversion. I would appreciate any and all assistance.
thank you and ride safe.

Are you sure you purchased the correct lamp? I don' t have a 1500 but have switched several LEDs on other bikes and cars and they all plugged right in.

thank you for responding and offering your assistance. it's not so much that they don't fit the plug in recepticle, the problem i'm having is that the head of the led lamp is larger than the opening in the metal frame holder. I just can't get the lamp to fit inside the fixture. any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated. have a nice day and ride safe

That is one of the problems with LED lamps. They are not the same shape as a normal bulb. You may need to find one that is configured so it will fit into your housing. If yours won't fit return it or resell it to someone that can use it. Then you will need to look around for one that will fit. I suggest that you start your shopping at superbrightleds.com. That is where I have purchased most of mine. For all of their bulbs you can find dimensions online so you can determine if they will fit. You can also find common bulbs in several different configurations that will fit into different situations.

I had a similar problem with the 1157 wide angle LED bulbs in the front turn signals of my GL1100 Interstate. I took a Dremel tool w/sanding drum attachment and gently trimmed the hole so the bulb would pass through. It wasn't much material that had to come off and the effort was worth it. Just be very careful because the socket still has to have something to grab onto.
