Did NY to phoenix in 72hrs, 800 miles a day back in January 1998, dodged trees that were fallen across 95 south along with ice with hotels every night, but this record setting drive this guy did is INSANE!!! He says the bike has a top speed of 170mph, which was used to effect to achieve the record. Chase vehicles to block law enforcement were also used as a countermeasure(see the above youtube link).

Interesting preparation both physical and mental along with bike modifications to make it all happen.......I kind of like the K1600GTL, have never rode one, appears to be a luxe-rocket, not as comfortable as wing but much faster.

I had no idea John Penton held this record at one time. I just met him on the weekend at the Cleveland Motorcycle Show!

How cool! Neat guy!

John Penton, Roger DeCoster and Brad Lackey...3 of my favorites!

(Showing my age a little here.)
I don't tolerate voluntary stupidity very well, and it seems to be rampant now-a-days.
