Who let the Dog out?

Postby twocams » Thu Mar 24, 2016 12:05 pm

Last night with Max my 4 yr old American Eskimo on leash we went into the shop. I was given the dog so only had him about 2 months. But had another for 14 yrs, great dogs. But he likes to eat and drink anything in sight. While I was bleeding my clutch last couple days I had left a tablespoon of Castrol dot 4 brake fluid in a tuna can. It was under the Wing on bike lift. I heard a slurp-slurp. What the heck are you doing now I asked Max> He looked at me and said " Im drinking brake fluid".
Shoot darn dogs cant take them anywhere. Got on the puter, kidney failure, vomiting, Call the vet ASAP.
Found you could call the ASPCA poison control that has a vet on call 24-7. its 9PM our vet is 40 miles. So we called the ASPCA cost $65 to talk to Vet (cheap house call). What is it, what is it made up of on bottle? It has glycol ethers in it same as anti freeze.
Vet gone several min. while he looked up a few things. Expect vomiting, loose bowel and a few other things. He seems to be OK today but will keep both eyes on him. Moral of the story: dont take your dog in the shop without checking with him first. To see what he likes to eat or drink.
Another interesting thing we found out. If your dog is chipped which Max is, if you call this other # they will call ASPCA poison control for you and it only cost you $20. Shoot thats a $45 savings....we didnt know.

When Jake, Sugar and Princess run into the shop (usually yapping like banshees) they're trying to get to the cat, Elvis.
Or they'll sneak in and eat the dry cat food.
Elvis stays in the shop most of the time. Since he showed up, the rat and mouse population has taken a nosedive. :D

Elvis showed up a few months ago and has always stayed in the shop. I guess if he was going to get into something bad, he would have croaked by now.

Good luck with Max.

He probably read the can and thought he was consuming odd tasting tuna.

I never let my dog into the shop...waaay too many sharp pieces of steel, shavings, lathe turnings, etc. lying around for him to step on, let alone the toxic chemicals.

Glad he's doing well!! And, a good reminder to the rest of us!

Max is doing fine. As you can see he has a ruff life. That is a $400 reclining chair he has claimed for himself.

It's a dog's life.

Free room & board, free medical & groceries.

Similar to government welfare.
