cool, thanks. that was easy. now what about plumbing in that LED headlight? I exchanged the cornering lights and the aftermarket fog lights from H3 to LED's but the "How To" on the headlight changeover left me hanging. And when I checked out the SuperBright LED that they were using they were $100 per.! Ouch!

Actually, the debate is still out on what the logo actually is. Some say condor or eagle, but GWRRA says Griffin (although I don't see it).

On the LED headlights, Cyclemax carries several brands. One from Electrical Connection here for $98.95 and the SoCalMotoGear here for $155.00 (the one Scott did a review on). Both are for a pair of headlights that is all that is required for the 1500.

I thought Griffin because of the shape of the head and the tongue is sticking out. Something I dont think a Condor or Eagle has. the shape of the head is not that of a condor or an eagle.. a Griffin is more "Japanese" than a condor or eagle I think. hell, it could be a winged Lizard!

The griffin of Greek mythology is supposed to have the body, tail, and back legs of a lion; the head and wings of an eagle; and an eagle's talons as its front feet.

According to this website:- http://www.onlytrial.com/1/the_honda_lo ... 20282.html The original Honda wing logo was based on the Greek goddess of victory, Nike (the same as Nike the sports company). I suspect that the Goldwing logo is an artistic continuation of the "Wing" theme which Honda has had since the late '40s.

Looking at the Goldwing logo, the creature does appear to have the head of a lion complete with mane. However, Griffins of mythology always had an eagle's head and talons but the body, back legs and tail of a lion, a sort of marriage of the king of beasts and the king of birds.

I was skimming the Net for some info and ran across the ONLYTRIAL.COM website.
Read it and was going to post here...but... oh well, it's still has good info.

Another tid-bit....

"Colors of the Nike Logo
The Nike logo has traditionally used the red and white color palette. The red color exemplifies passion, energy and joy, whereas the white color stands for the nobility, charm and purity of the Nike brand."

___This exemplifies to GoldWings as well.

Possible.
I was thinking, a Callout, like in megaphone.
This OEM emblem seems to be a lions head. The little cutout for the nose along with the brow line.

Odd how Honda switches the design. Bird (generic name), Lion, Eagle, Griffin.

Not to mention Nike herself, a goddess with female form. By the way, the Nike sports company logo "tick or check" comes from the shape made if you follow the upper outline of Nike's right arm as it joins her neck and face. You can see it in this example which is to be found in Ephesus, Turkey.

As I glanced at that pix the first time, the first thing that caught my eye was the head to wreath sweep.
YUP, it's an eye catcher, and I didn't eye-stutter under her chin.

It's a Condor ! I thought everybody knew by now that it is a Condor. Back in 1975 when the wing first came out I was a service manager for a Honda dealer and we were told by Honda way back then that it was a Condor.

Then the bike should be called a "Goldbird".

GoldBird , not a Goldwing.

This is a Goldwing (above).

I'm going to print this off and paste it on my bike's sidecovers so no cagers are confused anymore.

It's a Condor !
Well the bird being a condor would make sense. It is a majestic bird which can soar and glide effortlessly for hours. And looking at actual pictures of condors, they do have a sort of mane - I am sure there is an ornithological term for it. It is a bird best viewed from a distance as it is no beauty, so again, Goldwing haters will be in agreement with that too.
