Goldwing Newbie here!

Postby Alan_Hepburn » Sat Jun 11, 2016 12:00 pm

I didn't see a Newbie forum where we introduce ourselves so I'll try it here - my wife and I JUST bought a 1994 GL1500SE with a California Sidecar attached. Only 65K miles on the clock! Drove it home from Oregon to California and I must say it's a nice ride - although 500 miles in a day was kind of pushing things! As I get to know the bike I'm sure I'll have questions - hopefully you guys will have answers that match my questions!

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! We were specifically looking for a sidecar - the wife can't ride on the back of a bike because she has one artificial knee, the other one and both hips need replacing, and she has some bulging discs in her back. It was either give up riding or find a sidecar. We have a 2006 Ural that we've had for about 5 years now and she loves it, but with a top speed of 65 mph it's not much fun on the highways. We belong to the Southern Cruisers Riding Club and all the other members of our chapter ride Wings (without sidecars!) and they talked us into looking for a decent ride. We found this one up in Oregon and I rode it from Cottage Grove, Or to San Jose, Ca while the wife followed in our smart car - a LONG day's ride!

There's a couple of minor bugs that need to be worked out - I'll be asking questions in the appropriate area soon - but overall it runs great!
