aftermarket gps

Postby pasquot » Wed Jul 20, 2016 11:08 am

have a 99 gl1500se. have aftermarket garmin gps with audio out. unknown anymore what nuvi.

shop hardwired gps to bike. i wnated one which i can hear directions

anyway the gps only stays on for a few seconds and then goes blank again. any suggestions on where to start looking for the problem?

keep in mind this is more of a mechanical shop rather than electrical knowledge. hopefully will be something simple.

thanks in advance for your help.

First thing I'd check is the power wire. I've read where some of them fail. Not much to go wrong. Gotta be the power supply or the unit itself.
I have a Nuvi 680 on my 99. Hooked up with cigarette lighter plug.

If you have a SD card in the SD slot, try removing that!

I have a 680 & a 765t, both have it. Had a 350 on another bike. It & the 360 have it. All these are Nuvi.
Someone posted where eBay has some Zumo's for sale. Between 200-300 dollars. Can't remember the number though. I'll try to find it.
