No, I bought them on EBay for $29 and free shipping. They were very easy to install.

That's the best time to work on it is when it's down for a major issue.

i agree. once i can get to the starter clutch, im gonna also replace the stator and clutch disks and the clutch slave cylinder even though there's nothing wrong with them at the moment. i have no idea if and when the timing belts were ever changed, so im gonna do those too. i figure while i have it torn down i might as well do all this so i won't have to for another few years.

even though i only paid $300. bucks for the bike a year ago, (not running), i might as well have it running as good as i can get it.

I absolutely agree with you. I have to do timing belts and a water pump to mine this winter and Ill recover the seat at the same time. Great price by the way.

thanks. i actually found this bike on craigslist in an auto junk yard not too far from where i live. the PO that had it couldn't get it to start up because it "supposedly" had a bad crank pulse sensor and he was asking $500. for it. well, i went to look at it and i said i'll give you $300 for it because its not running and he accepted it. trailered it home, did some research on it, and having a friend that owns a motorcycle salvage yard, i went to take a look at an 85 LTD that had the same set up, well i traced the wiring and saw where it was plugged in at, went home, traced the wiring on mine, found the connector plug that was unplugged, connected it, pressed the starter button and the bike fired right up. it belched black smoke for a few minutes because it was sitting for about 6 months, but i had it running and riding that same day. so far i've put new tires f & r, drivers floorboards with heel-toe shiftier, cup holder, cell phone holder, new brake pads f & r, battery and starter and had the entire electrical system front to back checked and a few shorts and corroded wires replaced by a retired certified electrician because it died on me while i was riding it. i also have a new fuel filter and im getting a new electric fuel pump to put on it as well.

now its time to do the rest of the work that i didn't do when i had it running. i was just having such a good time riding it, i didn't want to tear it apart until this riding season was finished, but now i have to do it so i can get it all back together by this coming January or February and have it ready to roll out of my garage for next riding season so i can take a nice ride on it down to the Florida keys next spring or summer.

Looks great! But those blue lights by the passenger foot boards and by the trunk on the rear would get you a ticket here in Jersey.
Reflecting off the ground or engine is ok, but if the blue lights themselves are visible, it's ticket time.
Red or amber only here.
George in Jersey.

It's that way here in Idaho also, I have them on a separate circuit and can turn them on or of with the flip of a switch.
