The First Amendment

Postby Grindl » Fri Oct 14, 2016 2:14 am

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion , or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ; or abridging the freedom of speech , or of the press , or the right of the people peaceably to assemble , and to petition the Government for a redress of grievance ".

I put the text of the First Amendment up for everyone to read ; hopefully before responding to this because I've read so many responses on this site , in many different topics , where comments are attacked for not being politically correct , or someone had a differing view-point on the topic altogether . Whether politically ; emotionally , or ideologically motivated .

Have we ; as a nation , and a people , replaced the First Amendment with "Group Think" , and P.C. Intimidation whereas only One side has the "Right" of determining what is now "Acceptable Speech" ? What do you think ?

I think our 1st Amendment can be commented on by anyone on this Earth.
Even in the most totalitarian country a human has a right to speak their mind.
How else would the dictator know what's going on in front and behind his back.

This "PC" krap isn't about loss of the 1st A.. It's about brainwashing both before (learning of) and after (speak twistedly). No... the problem lays in the listener/receiver. Will the listener believe the PC person that the world is flat? After all, a PC person states, anywhere one stands on Earth, the view of Earth is flat, there is no curve, hence the world is flat. But we then know this PC person never ventured out far from his Gated community and never learned about the real world in their private school.

SO!!!... . . . did I BYTE? :P
.. .. or just nibble and spit out? :?

I thought about posting this for a very long time before doing so . My motivation was ; hopefully , to actually start a open dialogue regarding the real difference between free and open speech , and the current climate of bullied P.C. Speech . And ; God forbid , make people actually think about this topic .

Seems as though we have reached a point in our society where everyone gets "Butt-hurt" about something......for any reason , at any time .

One thing I've learned on internet forums is that the First Amendment to the Constitution of The United States is that it DOES NOT APPLY.
The owner/admin/mod is absolute dictator.

There's very few places on this Earth where one can voice their opinions, the USA is one of the top places.
BUT... one must hold their tongues (ENTER key) from posting "bite'y comments". After all, we are supposed to be mature enough to hold a civil discussion. One's HIGH passion of 'X' should be self controlled but also allowed to let off steam. This steam should be done in small spurts, for it's those small spurts where others can return comments on where the thread can be allowed to take small steps at a time and not YUGE LEAPS into DELETION LAND.

Another thing, one simply cannot direct a post in one direction and expect everyone to hold true to JUST that topic for there are collateral pieces of info and experiences that help make or break anothers point[s].

WHY DO I FEEL LIKE THIS IS THE BEGINNINGS OF THREAD RULES? Seems like we're bare tip-toeing through Rose bushes.

And this is called "Hijacking" the thread, which is absolutely not PC.

In Canada we have, instead of a first amendment, "The Canadian Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms" which guarantees the criminal's rights to be heard over and in spite of the victim's. It also guarantees that no matter what one might say that is not PC, one will be accused of hate crime.

Not tonight, man. I'm drinking Bud Ice and I'll get a warning at minimum, if not a ban. :D
I will say this though. I have enough video and audio footage of 1st and 4th Amendment violations by cops who took an oath to the Constituition and government employees here and in Fl to start filing suits and/or start my own Youtube channel. If only my upload speed wasn't 33kbs :x :x

It's a non-starter for us UK citizens, and subjects of Her Most Gracious and Britannic Majesty, Queen Elizabeth. We have an established religion. Nonetheless, I am sure there is something in this thread I can find which offends me - and I demand compensation. So come on WingAdmin, pay up (Dollars please, none of those worthless Pounds).

"Congress shall make no law respecting ...... "

We aren't "Congress" .... we are "people of free will" whom are free to make associations with others of like minds or to avoid same with those of opposing minds as we deem fit.

TRUE!! Our so-called "constitution" contains a huge caveat: each person is guaranteed their "rights"...until the government decides for some reason that it's not in their best interests for you to have them, and they can do this at their leisure. Seriously! It's written right in there (enshrined forever - NO amendments are permitted) - penned by Turdeau Sr., the father of our current "Prime Minister". It's a travesty, really - what we have are temporary, government-granted privileges, masquerading as "rights" in Canada.

Don't get me started on PC!! As far as I'm concerned, PC has now grown into the single most virulent cancer on western society that has ever existed, where the rights of the many are ignored in favor of the one...everyone is afraid to say anything, in the event that someone, somewhere, someday, might possibly take offense at it. One of our major cities was recently successfully sued, because they had "Merry Christmas" on the side of some of their buses at Christmas time.

Anyway, I, for one, look forward to the day when the pendulum starts to swing back from the "snowflake" left toward the middle, and "triggers" are something only found on guns!

Every man is still entitled to his opinion. He just needs to be very careful where he speaks it, or be armed.
Very unfortunate that's the way it is anymore.

True. And the biggest problem with that is - one cannot even speak ones mind in the presence of those presumed to be friends and of like mind. The rats are everywhere........ :o

THAT is what confounds me. We are a Majority Rule society and somehow this SINGLE complainer get to dictate to the masses?

So what I'll be doing what we used to say way-WAY back in the 60's..., "So you're stating that "X' should be this or that because just YOU say so? I got news for you, the majority of 2/3'rds already voted and you're the minority of ONE."
... or something like that. :)

My question is, WHY DID our government start this PC krap?
