take 95 south to US1 down to key west. its a great ride if the weather is nice especially going over the "7 mile bridge". i did the ride one Christmas day, sunny, temps in the low 80's when lived down in key largo. its about 120 miles from homestead once you get onto US 1 past Miami, but be careful, riding i95 south is a nightmare during the rush hour, actually ANY hour is a nightmare on i95 north and south. what you COULD do is take the Florida turnpike down to homestead and get off there, its the last exit on the southbound FTP. take US1 south all the way down to key west.

while your riding down on US1, when you get at mile marker 112.5, look to your left, thats where i used to live. the place is called the "MANATEE BAY MARINA". there is an island there where i had my houseboat docked. you'll be able to see the new home that was built on the southern tip of the island which was still under construction when i moved away and finished in 2009/2010. i lived next to it. BTW, that new house in 2013 sold for $1,850,000.00 and is reselling for $2,931,316.00 just in case your "in the market" to buy a vacation home :)

We went to the Keys last winter by car and not on the trike, it was not what I was expecting, but a nice trip. We came back I95 for a short distance and what a mess I got off and took back roads. Would like to ride to the Keys on the trike.
I have used motorcycle roads before just not in Florida, looks like a few good places I need to check out.
Thank you for the replies.

oh your welcome. yeah, a trike ride down to the keys including key west would be really nice. like i said before, your best bet is to take the Florida turnpike south down to Homestead/Florida city then jump onto US1 south and take that the rest of the way down to key west.
