Pop-up ads

Postby tfdeputydawg » Tue Jan 11, 2011 9:46 am

I don't care for the Ads that seem to attach to some of my posts!
I assume everyone knows we have no control over these things and we are not the ones putting them in our posts.
Just doesn't seem right for anyone's "personal" post to be invaded like that!

The ads show in the first and newest post of each thread, and are what pay for the hosting and bandwidth of this web site (as well as the monthly prizes). I think most people know its not the users that are putting ads on the web site.

Yep, the more ad's the better for the site, they don't bug me so much, I understand why they are there..I think it's pretty cool that so many businesses want to be on a motorcycle site, must be pretty popular and everyone that visit's this site made it that way, Of course wingman helped just a little, ha ha, I think I gotta viagra ad on one of my post, Nooo just kidding..

Actually, everybody gets different ads. It's really quite targeted - browse the web and show interest in a specific topic, and you'll start seeing ads for products related to that topic.

For instance, I bought a new rifle scope a few weeks back, and in the course of doing so, did a some research on the web about various rifle scopes. Ever since, a lot of the ads that *I* see on this site are for optics and rifle companies.

Try it out: Go to somewhere like Amazon.com, type in a product you're interested in, and spend five or ten minutes browsing through those types of products. Come back here, and I'm pretty sure your ads here will reflect those products.

So if you're seeing advertisements for Viagra...well, all I can say is, I'm sorry. :)

I see an ad for Advanced Auto, who I use all the time.

I just bought several marine batteries for a solar array that I am building using the coupon and saved about $80.00.
