Is there anybody older than me I will be 75 in Jone

Postby wbishop » Thu Jan 27, 2011 6:08 pm

I am wondering if there is anybody older than me still riding?

I ride a GL1500 89 Trike with a Leeman conversion 44,000 miles on the clock I still do my own maintainance, and a couple of days ago I changed my timing belts, oil and filters and gave it a good check over ready for a lot of riding very soon.

I'll be very happy if I'm still doing all the work on my bike(s) when I'm 75! Good on you!

Well, I'll only be 66 in march, BUT my riding buddy is 76 and rides a 2001 1500 trike. He's been riding for approx. 40 years, whereas I've only been riding for 8 months!! So, kudos to BOTH of you!! You are an inspiration!!

I would like at your age just to ride.

I'm not older than you, but I hope to still do all my stuff when I'm your age. My dad is 71 and he still works on all his stuff himself and works harder than I do.

Well, I am 78 and soon to be 79. My wife and I both ride our GW 1500 trike. Will be going to Canada in June. Planning a trip for my 80th in 2012- will do a coast to coast if all goes well.

What part of Canada will you be visiting Bob?

We have a group of older riders called the Fogies. The youngest is abut 65 and the oldest is 84. We do a lot of day rides and do two long-term rides each year.

Our Canada destination is Toronto. We do a lot of touring on the way and plan to be on the road for about two weeks.
Guess I will be the oldest on this trip as the 84 year old will not be going.

Congratulations to all the elders who keep on riding, my hats off to you all. I'm sure all of us younger folks (in our 60's) hope to follow in your tracks. Enjoy life you earned it! :D

What's up? Second post about "old" folks. We are not old just experienced. 66 here.

I'll be 74 in March, ride a 2008 GL1800 that I bought new out-of-the-crate last September. Sold my 2005 Kawasaki Nomad that I put 86000 miles on but it was getting long in the tooth with stuff failing.
Looking forward to taking some 4 to 5 day trips into Arizona and Utah this summer. My first trip will be up the east side of the Sierra, on 395. It's a beautiful ride with the mountains snow covered. From my home in Monterey, a 3 day trip is a good warmup for some summer trips.
I getting older, but refuse to grow up.

We will be doing Arizona and Utah this summer also. A week in Arizona and then move to Utah for a week. Probably in late May and early June. Camping and making day trips instead of doing a circuit and changing location every day. :D :D

Be sure to spend at least two days at Zion National Park. I stayed at Majestic View Lodge and the name does not due it justice. Zion has been described as a national park one should visit after all the others, since it is so spectacular that if visited first, the others would not seem as great.
I tend to agree, only because I have yet to visit all the others.

Zion is on the list. So many places to visit in Southern Utah.

Kudos to you, sir! I just turned 50 and my co-workers are telling me I'm too old to ride. Then again, they're nurses and call the Wing a Donorcycle. I hope to be able to tour as you do at 76!!!

I like the saying that goes "You don't quit riding when you get old, you GET old when you quit riding!"
I'm only 57, but sometimes.............

Well, I am only 66, but have 80,000 on my '06 Wing. Just got back to SW Florida after a ride to Ohio (Akron, Cleveland) then back down the BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY with a side trip to the TAIL OF THE DRAGON. Still get a kick out of draging pegs on the twisties. Hope that I am still going strong at 75.
