Gee Wezz.. I'm a Texan what the heck is this white stuff... :o I'm thinking of moving to a Florida, maybe the Keys..

It always amuses me how people down here freak out about a little snow. :)

That said, it makes good sense during winter to always make sure you never go out without fuel (I consider my tank "empty" at 1/4 tank during winter), and a heat source, like an emergency candle (and a way of lighting it!).

Hey littlebeaver, we're gonna get it tomorrow through Wed. here in Illinois. Predicting 18-24". BAH!!!!
Have a lot of food, water, etc. We both are retired so there's no need to go anywhere. Just wait it out. Trouble is, we have a mixed blessing. Daughter and 4 grandkids came up from KY, so we get to see them and enjoy their company, BUT,... the fact is,....we're gonna have 4 little ones running around the house. Now, if we truly are cooped up in the house for a couple of days....well....spring is going to seem A LOT farther off and can't come any too soon so I can get out for a ride and escape on the bike. Yep a mixed blessing.

Yes, this can get really serious, I can feel it, please take this storm serious guys, I like joking around but there will be some folks freezing and without power and in vehicles and in their homes..A couple of years ago it took the power companies two weeks to get power back on south of us and that was just a ice storm.. and we are getting a artic blast behind all of this snow and ice..So when you get trucks that can't get to the site it's hard to get things up and running..Life is always grand until that power goes out.. .. Maestro take care of that bunch you have there and forget the bike while they are there, those little one's are your buddies, I'm sure..Later.. :D We all have lot's of day's of riding ahead of us..

My daughter lives in Wisconsin and they don't even shut the schools down when they have 2 or 3 feet of snow. She laughs at us down here in the south when we close schools with 2" of snow. I don't know how they stand to live up there in the winter.

Here is an emergency heat source that a lot of truck drivers use that most people never think of,A 1lb coffee can,a roll of bathroom paper,A bottle of rubbing alcohol,Put the paper in the can pour on the alcohol and light it ,It is not like a blast furnace, but it will keep you from freezing and the fumes wont kill you.

Well that was a lot of nothing. Our huge blizzard put all of two inches on the ground (but of course they shut all the schools anyway). They're calling for isolated snow showers and freezing drizzle tonight. They say we might get another inch. So much for the big blizzard.

Man, don`t complain. We have missed out on a lot of storms this year. Maybe we will have an early spring.

Yeah guys,
It hasn't even hit Illinois yet. Supposed to start this afternoon and snow and blow throughout the night into tomorrow here. Supposed to be between 18-24" when it is all done. We'll see.
BUT, then the storm moves off to EAST, Indiana, Ohio, etc. So, be prepared anyway. Ya just never know.

I'm in Indiana and I'm not holding my breath on anything. At first they said 1 to 4. Then it went to 12 to 18. Now its 12 to 24 with possably ice included. We are under a blizzard warning till Wedsneday night. It's gona be very cold and very windy. They are calling for 5+ ft. snow drifts just out of town. I got a buddy that lives outside of town and he says it's really getting bad out their! If you don't have to go out, "DON'T" stay inside with otherhalf under a blanket and help our population grow

No snow for us - they're calling for rain and freezing drizzle, with at most 1-2 inches of sleet accumulation.

Of course, they're ALWAYS wrong here, so we'll likely get two feet of snow dumped on us! :)

We are approx. 35 miles west of Chicago. Snow started about 2:00. Wasn't too bad then. Now, it is snowing harder, wind is blowing, and the snow on the ground is drifting. Basement windows blocked with snow. I just noticed it is getting very windy out there!! Hmmmm...let's see....stay in, have a fire in the fireplace, read to the grandkids, have a hot toddy of my choice (or two!!), then"snuggle" with the missus. Sounds like a plan. What a way to forget the weather.

In Elkhart Ind. It's -2 with high winds and snow and blowing snow. I shovled a few hours ago, and it's got up to 3 inches covering it already. Some drifts here in town in front of the house are 12". This looks like 78-79 all over again!
