Octane rating for 98 GW Aspy

Postby grayowl » Fri Sep 18, 2009 12:32 pm

Dumb question: I have a new (to me) 98 GW 1500 Aspy that has a 2000 GW owner's manual. The manual states using 87 octane while the label on the inside of the side cover (which may or may not be original) says to use 91 octane. I have checked around but can't find the correct information. I'll have to break down and get the owner's manual for the 98 GW. Any information on the correct octane rating would be appreciated.

Thanks.

87 should work fine, if it pings then go to 89 or better.

I put 168,000 on a 97 and run 85 octane available in Texas never put high octane in it the whole time.Course this was back in 2005 to 1997 so the gas has changed blends now quite a bit.I would just start low and go high my 05 don't like ethanol much.Enjoy,Neverhome

Thanks, Cyclewizard and Neverhome for the information. It's 85-87 octane regular for my GW.
