New member from the Chicago area

Postby Steve F » Thu Apr 07, 2011 9:13 pm

Hey there, just posting to introduce myself to the forum. Just signed up tonight, and I'm hoping that by tomorrow, I'll be the proud owner of an '03 GL1800 with only 12K on the odo :D .
I'm currently the proud owner of two '76 Honda CB750F Super Sports, but.......well, they're not really meant to take on touring rides. This would be the first "big" bike for me, and I'm hoping the finances work out.

Welcome to the club, I use to own a CB750F2 (Dual overhead cam model, later than yours!) It was a great bike.. Hope you like the wing, I went from an R1 (Which I loved, but my kids hated being on the back off) to an 03 wing, it was a bit of a shock at first, heavy and average handling, but after a bit of riding and changing the shock and fork internals (Traxxion or Progressive are your best friends!) it's a great bike.. Love riding it now and the kids enjoy going on the back.. Post some pictures when you get it..

OK, it's a done deal, Picked her up last Saturday, and I've been too busy riding to get back here to post some pics. So here it is, my "new-to-me" '03. I really love this bike, it's a first for me, and I'm still trying to get used to the size compared to my now "little" 'ol '76 750F.

Welcome to the site, I know you'll enjoy the bike, but how do you cope with the traffic in the Chicago area?

Well, it's not silver, it's not gold...kinda in between. Is this the titanium color? I suppose I could get off my butt and check the color code number to find out, but I like it. Actually, I like the red better, but this bike is just fine with me :D

That's the thing about living near a big city. You learn really quick to stay outta there. I hate driving in the city traffic, and since I live west of Chicago by about 30 miles, I generally don't travel anywhere east, it's always further into the country.

Welcome to the board/bored. Hope you are a happy camper when the "new" ride gets home. I have an "03" which I bought 4-1/2 years ago with 1495 miles on the clock. I now have over 75,000. You will love it!
