New Goldwing 1500SE Owner Ohio

Postby Stanny73 » Mon Apr 11, 2011 6:25 pm

Hello everyone. Just purchased my first Goldwing and Couldnt be happier. Just working to learn the bike especially the preventative maintence stuff. Rode a little this past weekend getting aquainted and heading to the shop this weekend for tires. Man was the price a big suprise for me. I guess that is what we come to expect with having toys. I am sure I will posting with bunches of questions as they arise.

I'm currently looking at a 1988 GL1500 with 28000 on it. May I ask the price and mileage on yours?
There are numerous posts on this forum about getting the timing belts changed if they are older than 8 years or have set for a time without the engine being run.

Mine is a 1990 SE. I paid 3600 for it and it has 95k miles on it. The previous owner had it 15 years and had only put around 5k miles on it. For the past 3 years it has been run probably once a year but has had the fluids changed. Since I got it I have put a new battery in it, had to bleed the rear brakes, they were not working and had air in the line, and I am having tires put on this week because the tires have cracks on this sidewalls even though the tread is in good shape. Besides that everything works on it at this point and seems to run very well with no smoking or anything. Also came with 3 helmets, intercoms, brand new bike cover. I feel that I got a pretty good deal and really happy with the bike.

Welcome from Oklahoma! Congrats on the new "toy". Good advice on the timing belts.

Welcome from south east Indiana. Enjoy the ride, doesn't get much better.
