Getting Logged Out

Postby cbx4evr » Sun Apr 17, 2011 10:51 am

After preparing a lengthy reply to a post and then clicking the Submit button I got a page that said I had to log in to post.

Problem is I had logged in and was logged out automatically. :( :o Of course I lost all I had composed.  This isn't the first time this has happened and was wondering if it can be fixed. :?: :?:

This shouldn't ever happen - as long as your browser page is open, the cookies should remain valid. Had you been on the site for a long time? Which browser are you using? Do you have anything in your browser set to disallow or restrict cookies?

I belong to another forum, and sometimes while I'm typing a reply, someone else has responded, and then trying to post MY reply can be a problem. I've made it a habit to highlight everything in my reply and right-click-copy everything before I try to post. That way, if something goes wrong with the posting, I can open a new reply and PASTE everything back into the new reply and post again.

If someone posts to a topic while you are writing your reply, when you hit submit, it will pop up the other reply and ask if you still want to post, or give you the opportunity to change your post before finalizing. But I don't think that's the problem he's seeing here.

If anyone has had this happen to them, can you please post:

- The type of browser and operating system you're using
- Whether you have any cookie modification/blocking system in use, or have configured your browser to block cookies altogether

I'd like to find some commonality to the problem so that I can attempt to pinpoint the source of the problem and get it fixed.

my provider is Centurylink.... the browser is google...... no cookie mods other than settings set to medium where it can accept most cookies... Computer is vista home basic... lost some pretty good threads which i did not feel like re-posting due to length and content.. trouble was not apparent until post was ready to be submitted. Then it was lost.! ???????? discovered i had been automaticly logged out of the forum.. while drafting a post. :?
