What Can I Use To Keep My Windshield From Fogging Up

Postby fastf » Tue Apr 26, 2011 11:46 am

Since the weather has warmed up I have been riding my old 1200 LTD to work at night. When I park the bike in the parking lot I have to put a trash bag over the windshield to help keep the dew from fogging it up with no luck and I take a towel and wipe it off two minutes it is back fogged up again and also while going down the road I also hit patchy fog it fogs up making me have to look around until it clears up this is dangerious someone mentioned RainX makes a product that keeps glass from fogging up but that is glass and a windshield is Lexan plastic and will it work or not can anyone give some of their advice or what works for them.

Have you tried using Pledge furniture polish? It's a great cleaner, and the regular polish has a tiny bit of oily residue to it that helps keep fog from forming on the windshield.

Rain-X is a no no on bike windshields.

That's what I thought it might hurt the windshield because it is made for glass not plastic and wanted peoples input and their ideas that work for them thanks and May God Bless.

Back in the 80's I used boat wax.It was used on boats to keep the hulls friction free. Worked good.

Stay away from that suggestion about boat wax. Boat wax is for fiberglass Gel Coat on boats. It is slightly abrasive and over time will cloud up your plastic wind screen.
Shaving cream works great but you will need to re-do it from time to time.
Try it on the mirror in you barthroom if you have any doubts about it when it steams up from a shower.
It won't steam up!
