Raincoat: Water repellent coating product

Postby WingAdmin » Fri May 06, 2011 10:29 am

I read about this stuff in an aviation magazine, where it was being reviewed (positively) as a product that can be used on plexiglass airplane windshields. It's for use on plastic only, and they advertise it for use on motorcycle windshields and helmet faceshields as well. The Raincoat product is for rain, and the Fogtech product is for the inside of visors to prevent fogging.

Anyone want to be a guinea pig/reviewer and see if the stuff works?

If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. BF

I've been using Pledge on my windshield for quite some time, but I don't like the way it leaves a slight oily coating, and it collects dust like crazy. This stuff dries like wax, which is why I thought it might be a good alternative. I've ordered some anyway, I'll let everyone know what I think once I get it.

I just got caught in the rain this weekend, and as I watched the water streak across my helmet and windshield, I thought; "I wish I had put that stuff on already!" We'll see how it works...

Been using this for over a year and it certainly does what it says on the tin
I found the original cleaning to be of some importance and also found not to leave it on longer than the instructions said as its a b----r to get back off if it dries too long
I find it doesn't need much and am still using the first packet, I tend just to ride at weekends so find that an application lasts a couple of weeks but once you have started the regime you can just overcoat it unless you have used something to clean off the bugs that might remove it but again I found any bugs seem to come off very easily

I haven't tried the fogtech yet but have some to try on the strength of how good the raincoat works
Give it a go its well worth it
