Helmets ???

Postby Sally » Mon May 30, 2011 7:36 am

I waited for this new helmet to come out in April bought two one for me and one for the wife. around the $200.00 dollar mark. With the inside sun sheild in it blow up cheek pads for better saftey. But what a piece of junk.. When you have the upper vents open you can't stand it the wind noise is so bad that I can't ride with them open so now I ride with the face sheild open to get air.Anyone know of a quiet helmet out there that I will be able to hear my tunes when the vents are open ?? What is this helmet that you bought?

We have a different take on it. We bought one for my wife, had Sierra Electronics install the clamp-less J&M headset. She loves it! The visor works great, it is fairly quiet, though there are more expensive ones that are quieter, and fits her great. JMHO

As an after note, I wear a Shoei full face helmet. It fits well, is very quiet and needs to be replaced as it is well past the age that it should still be worn.

I just replaced my Shoei full-face (also past needing replacing) with an Arai Profile full-face. The Arai is a bit louder than the Shoei, but it is FAR more comfortable and fits much better. The Arai is also easier to fit the J&M headset into, because all the internal liners snap easily in and out.

I use the HJC Modular with the sun visor and love it. Comfortable, quiet and gives all the options of breeze as you like it. Cheaper too.

My wife is using the Shoei Quest Goddess and she loves it. Nice and quiet and not too heavy. I am using the Scorpion EXO900(modular) and I do find it a bit noisy depending on the wind direction, but I needed the modular for my eyeglasses and for my first helmet budget. Buying the bike, safety equipment etc in one season I had to skimp a bit.

Just bought my first Goldwing. A 98 SE. Good to join you guys and gals. Would you mind saying how old is too old for a helmet. Thanks.

After 5-6 years of use my helmets are retired.

Anyone using the Scorpion EXO-100? What about using it with a headset?
