Oh my, the speed limit is going to be increased to 80 on the interstates in Texas, and 75 in many others, No No No..Wrong Wrong Wrong bad idea really bad idea in my opinion, the death count will rise I'm afraid... I got a speeding ticket and I still don't like the change, this will give everyone an excuse to go 85 now [5 over] fuel will be used up quicker, bikers will be run off the road man.. It was plenty fast at 70 ... now 80..  what's your take on it , you know mine... Will it bother you at all or will you be happy..

The speed limit in west Texas is already 80mph. They are actually considering raising the limit to 85 on some Interstate hwys. Which is okay by me where there isn't much traffic. However if you have ever driven between San Antonio and Dallas the traffic is so heavy sustained speeds are not possible. The traffic is bumper to bumper even at 75. So, it's 75mph for 5 miles and 25mph for 5 miles. As soon as one brake light flashes the entire line of traffic slows for at least 5 miles behind.

They raised the turnpike speed limit up here in Ohio from 65 to 75 recently - but if you're doing 80, they will pull you over. They're acting almost "zero tolerance" with the new limit up here.

That said, I won't drive 75 in my (V8) truck - I can't afford to blow that much gas! Even my bike sucks back gas at 75 compared to 65.

If we can learn to use the lanes properly like they do in europe it wouldn't be so bad. Travel in the right. Not the middle or left lanes. that's one of my pet peaves no matter where you are here. Many drivers, both two and four wheeled are guilty of it. They get into the left lanes and sit there at or below the limit rather than stay in the right lane where they belong.
