Gold Wing Updates????

Postby whnot@verizon.net » Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:13 am

Hello, My name is Walter and I am new to this site. I ride a 2004 BMW R1200CL and plan to upgrade to a new Gold Wing. However, I am curious if Honda will be coming out with a Gold Wing with some serious updates like an engine with DOHCs, electric windshield, etc. Has anyone heard anything about what Honda intends to do in the near future (2013-2014)? I would appreciate hearing your thoughts. Thanks.

Haven't heard of anything like the updates described. Why mess with perfection? lol

Honda is extremely secretive about any upcoming models, and the first we typically hear about new features/models is when they hit the showroom floors. There's always lots of rumors, but they are very seldom true.

Fair enough, but I just thought with the new BMW K1600 that Honda would be doing a major upgrade on the Gold Wing. I agree with your thinking that the Gold Wing is an excellent bike, although after test driving one for a while, it felt like it could use more power in the 70 to 80 MPH + range. A DOHC engine with more valves per cylinder could help it breath better and yield a better top end. Anyway, thanks for the quick replies.

Never heard anyone complain about a lack of power with the 1800. ???

I'll agree I never rode the BMW but I cant see it holding a candle to a new wing
