Newbie from Canada

Post by sagh » Sun Jul 31, 2011 4:26 pm

Hi everyone,

Just purchased a 1981 Honda Goldwing and found your forum and joined right away. It has just over 83,000km and I'll be looking forward to any help on maintaining it and also what to look for age wise and what to replace.

welcome to the forum, there is a wealth of info here and some very knowledgeable folk too.Would you please post your city in your profile,Canada is a BIG place. You never know who might be just down the street from you that is a member of this forum.

First order of maintainence would be to replace the timing belts if you dont know how old they are,a broken belt will damage the engine and ruin your whole week. Next I would flush out all fluids, brake, coolant, oil and filter and rear end oil. Check the tires for any sign of weather cracking . There is more but this is what comes to mind right off the top of my head. You are going to love your new ride.

Ride safe.
Ride safe, Todd
Over night campers welcome

Welome. What city and province please. Could you add that info to your profile. We could be neighbors.
"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "

Thanks for all the hellos...I'm from a town called Powassan Ont. Just south of North Bay, Ont. Looking to change all the fluids this weekend and looking into the timing belts replacement. Would any one know where to get the right oils and coolants in my area? Also where would I find the timing belts? I found a great article here at GWD that will help tremendously with the timing belts (awesome). I'll be looking to do the brake lines too. If there is a how to article on the brakes, and changing them to braided lines, I would appreciate the info also.

Thanks again for all help and advise.
