FEEDBACK ON GOLDWINGS SE 1500 MODELS

Postby bjtex » Wed Aug 17, 2011 8:01 am

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT YEAR FROM 1988 TO 1999 WHICH GOLDWING 1500 SE WAS THE BEST IN ALL ASPECTS. ALSO I HAD A 1990 GOLDWING SE WHICH HAD MORE LEG ROOM THAN MY 1993 GOLDWING SE. DID HONDA REDISIGN THE 93 MODEL TO BE SHORTER IN LEG ROOM? I AM 5'11 LOOKING FOR MORE LEG ROOM IN THE 1500 MODELS. ALL FEEDBACK WOULD BE APPREICATED. THXS, JIM

there was no '88 or '89 se goldwing. in 1990 honda reintroduced the interstate and aspencade and at that time the top of the line se was also introduced. maybe one of your wings had a reworked or aftermarket seat

I just purhased a 1994 se and it seems to have the same leg room as the 1994 aspencade that I traded in. I am 5'9" and they both seem like a nice fit.

A red (fastest color) 2000SE.

About 94, the seat height changed, making the seat about an 1 1/2 shorter so some subtle changes there.

I work in automotive as a manufacturing engineer and the cycle for production is always the same.
In the beginning, it's all about making improvements in quality; about midway thru the lifecycle, it's how to cheap it out and still make it adequate.

With that in mind, I would venture a guess that the best bikes were the ones in the middle, avoiding the first and last couple of years. Still, I wouldn't be afraid of any of them. Wings are great.

Check steve saunders web site. He has the details of each wing.
The early ones had some frame issues and the last ones didn't use Japanese alt/starters.
